'Dragon Ball Super': The Clown God of Destruction "Vermoud!"

The True Identity and Origin of Vermoud!

Hey, Vermoud fans!!

I am yours truly, Michael, A.K.A. Mike!

Today, we are going to focus on the true identity of Vermoud, the "Clown God of Destruction." Now, this is not the first time that we have seen Vermoud. You may not recognize him by name. You may not remember his face, but Vermoud has lived for countless eons in world mythologies from around the world. It is now time to reveal his true identity.

So let's not waste any more time and get right to it!

Now before you guys read this post, make sure you read about the "Egyptian God of Destruction" Bes from Universe 9, where we revealed his true identity.

Now let's begin!

Dadkeri-Assi (An Ancient Jester)

The year is "2500 B.C., where the first clown performed as a "jester" in the courts of Pharoah, whose name is Dadkeri-Assi, during Egypt's 5th dynasty. Since then, many cultures around the world have incorporated the clown into their mythology, including the "Heyoka."

The Heyoka is a secret clan of the Lakota people of the "Great Plains" of North America. The main purpose of a secret clan is to deflate the ego of power, by reminding those in power of their mortal tendencies to make mistakes. While also reminding those who are not in power, that power has the potential to corrupt.

The Supreme Kai Alongside with Vermoud and Toppo (Hoodie)!

If not balanced with other forces, it then makes sense that Universe 11's Supreme Kai, who values life and has a strong sense of justice, will get along with the Vermoud.

Toppo (God of Destruction)?!

While Toppo, who also has a strong sense of justice, will be a potential candidate for the role "God of Destruction."

Vermoud vs. Gods of Destruction!

However, as similar as the Heyoka and Vermoud are, I do not think that he represents Heyoka. So, in order for us to figure out the real identity of the "Clown God of Destruction," let me ask you guys something.

What do all clowns have in common with every culture and mythology?

What is the single most important fact about clowns that brings them all together?

The answer is, the "Trickster Spirit." Tricksters are known for being intelligent and possessing the secret knowledge, such as "Little Finger" from Game of Thrones. Tricksters regularly use their secret knowledge to cause mischief and to play tricks on others, and who is the biggest trickster of them all? That's right! You guessed it! The God of Mischief himself, "Loki."

Loki (Trickster)

Loki from "Nora's mythology," is the true identity of the Vermoud because you see, Loki is a physically weak character who is trying to survive in a dangerous world. Now because of this, Loki has no loyalties to anyone, but himself. In other words, Loki will support you, if it means it will help him survive, but the moment someone else offers him a better deal, do not be surprised when Loki throws you under the bus. In mythology, Loki helps both the Gods and the "Giants" and so, Loki has a mixed relationship with his fellow Gods.

On one hand, he has no problems insulting you front of your face. On the other hand, if you need someone to fulfill a task, Loki will do whatever it takes to get the job done, hopefully without backstabbing you in the process.

Vermoud (Clown God of Destruction)

So Vermoud is truly a "wild card." Now tricksters also tend to do things backward and to display opposite traits to what is considered normal. For example, Vermoud wears opposite colors, showing us that he represents both sides of the same coin. Now which side he represents depends on what is convenient to his survival at the time. The Clown God of Destruction is also very "patient," often allowing others below him to speak, such as Toppo. Instead of taking a proactive approach, Vermoud would rather observe from the sidelines and analyze the situation.

Now Vermoud has an attendant whose name is Harlequin.

Harlequin & Vermoud!

No, I am not talking about Harley Quinn from DC Comics and Suicide Squad. I am talking about Harlequin. Harlequin is a character who has typically masked and dressed in a diamond pattern costume and is what inspired the female angel attendant of Vermoud in Dragon Ball Super. However, maybe that would be a story for another time. In my next post, we will reveal the true identity of the female "Goddess of Destruction" from Universe 2, whose name is Jerez. I hope you guys learned about Vermoud's true identity and his origins.
