Easter Eggs Hidden in ‘Stranger Things 2’

Did you just watch 'Stranger Things 2?' If you did, here are some things you might have missed.

First off, there are going to be a lot of spoilers, so if you haven't watched this show yet, wait and then come back and view this because these might be some things that you may have missed. But these aren't true, they are just things I noticed, and other people have noticed, but it seems oddly familiar. And everything is just speculation.

Eleven is literally E.T.

Okay she isn't exactly E.T., but there are huge coincidences in Stranger Things. Eleven dresses up as a ghost, wanting to participate in trick or treating. And to not be seen she puts a sheet over her and the kids in E.T. dress him up so he isn't seen, as a ghost. Like I said, coincidence?

Reese's Pieces

This probably isn't a reference, but it is quite coincidental: there is a mention of Reese's Pieces. Will says that his favorite candy is Reese's Pieces. And so is E.T.'s! Another E.T. reference. The company apparently didn't pay for product placement, so the creators must've put them in there because of that reason.

There are two other 'E.T.' references.

So, both of these references have to do with Dustin, the bushy-haired character. He first has an action figure that is E.T. and the camera kind of pans over it, but you can definitely tell it's there. It is also shown during the time that he finds his little Demogorgon friend. Which, if you didn't guess what happens at the end with the Three Musketeers bar, you need to watch more movies.

The second is that he leads his Demo-dog to a trap leaving bologna to have it eat towards the trap. It's not Reese's Pieces, like in E.T., but he is leading an alien somewhere with something that it really likes.

"Find the X."

This is a reference to The Goonies. So as we all know, the little kid with asthma from that movie is in the newest season and he makes a reference to The Goonies. "What's at the X, pirate treasure?" Uhm, okay blatantly obvious, he is still looking for more treasure, and the one he finds first as a child isn't good enough. Just kidding, his character Bob is a very nice man though... too nice.

Hobbits are in Hawkins.

There are four boys on an adventure to stop the evil wanting to take over the world, and one boy is affected most of all and knows, more or less, what the evil is doing. Sound somewhat familiar? Will is Frodo, Mike is Sam, and Lucas and Dustin are Pippin and Merry. You could definitely argue that and it's a bit of a stretch, but you can kind of see the correlation. That and Samwise is literally the "brains" of Stranger Things and he is the heart in Lord of the Rings so he hits both aspects of what good characters need in the show. It's also very similar to the dynamics of The Goonies having kids going off and doing their own thing leaving the adults behind and having some older kids help them along their journey.

Brand vs. Steve

Brand is the glorified babysitter in The Goonies. He takes responsibility of the kids when they go treasure hunting. "I'm the oldest, so I'm in charge." He is the oldest of the group, and I am not sure if Steve is the oldest, but he finds himself taking care of these kids. And Steve calls himself "a great babysitter." He essentially takes care of the kids without really realizing it, but he does a great job as a coach to them. The advice he gives to Dustin and the relationship they build is so cute.
