With #Deadpool2 getting well underway with filming now that Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Lincoln) been cast as the time-traveling Nathan Summers. After all, there's a bit of mystery behind this character and fans of the first Deadpool are probably wondering what the draw of this character was as well as is. Now that he's officially here and tons of outstanding fan art has been made, you're probably wondering a bit about this character, and why he's so extremely important to this Marvel Universe.

He's the Son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyn Pryor (Jean Grey's Clone)

His birth is one of the strangest ones when it comes to the Marvel comics. In the comics, Nathan Summers was carefully planned out by the geneticist mutant Mister Sinister, who created his mother Madelyne Pryor, a clone of the powerful telepath Jean Grey. As part of a plan of his birth, Mister Sinister had planned to use Nathan against Apocalypse, whom once was the master of Mister Sinister.

Due to spoiled plans by Apocalypse, Nathan Summers wasn't able to be used as what Mister Sinister planned and his story takes a turn for the worst at times.

He Posses Amazingly Powerful Psychic Abilities

As a result of his birth, Nathan Christopher Summers posses vast psychic powers that manifest in the forms of both telekinesis and telepathy. As part of his life Cable is found to use his telepathy to great limits, which allow him to read thoughts from across great distances without the use of Cerebro, but he has also been able to interface with multiple minds at once.

He has also displayed an innate ability to traverse across the "Astral Planes" while keeping his body in his current place. This ability is something Professor X has done a few times throughout the #XMen movies. His abilities allow him to also control the techno-organic molecules of his body and even protect himself against a 1 kiloton nuclear warhead all the way from the heat, the blast wave, and even the radiation.

Due to the techno-organic virus that has taken over part of his body, Cable has altered in appearance, which forces him to use his psychic abilities to keep it under control. Due to this discipline, Cable hasn't seen the virus escalate in its path to ravage him, but instead, finds himself stronger, faster, and more durable than ever before. This includes the progress of it on half of his face, one of his arms, and part of his torso.

The virus portrays itself as cybernetics, bionics, and organic parts. This technically makes Cable a cyborg. However, the techno-organic virus remains primarily on the left side of his body. Luckily for Cable, his entire body has been heavily fortified on a cellular level. The strength of his body has been shown in a fight with the Hulk, which barely left him injured and displayed his superhuman level of damage resistance.

Let alone has the virus altered cable on the external level, Cable has also encountered his entire skeletal structure having been replaced by porous, marrow-filled organic metalloid bone replacement pieces that were created by red blood cells. This is possibly part of why he has been able to endure the damage he has in combat and even put him on a equal level with Apocalypse.

He Barely Needs Sleep and His Endurance is Insane

Due to his mental endurance, Cable is one that doesn't need much sleep. A single hour can pour him throughout a day while 6-8 hours is what he prefers. Due to his endurance cable has been rendered virtually immune to conventional firearms and conventional munitions (remember the nuke statement?).

Part of his changes also affect his Central Nervous System, which has allowed the biocomputer enhancements, which renders his his reaction times to inhuman speeds. He's been able to evade bullets ,bombs, and even more without even batting an eyelash. Due to his cybernetic eye (remember that glowing one?) he can even see bullets as they are being fired. Sadly, he's still not near as fast as Spider-Man or Daredevil.

Deadpool and Cable Met Through the "One World Church" Incident and When Wade Tried to Kill Him

In the comic "If Looks Could Kill" Cable and Deadpool ended up meeting in an unfortunate incident. Through the series arcs for "Deadpool and Cable", the group known as the "The One World Church" hires Deadpool in order to steal a virus that would allow them to turn everyone on Earth blue (imagine all those non-shapeshifting Mystiques running around). In turn, Cable is trying to figure out how to use his newly enhanced powers so that he can help change the world for the better.

Cable and Deadpool Merged Due to Deadpool

Unfortunately, both of them ended up infected with this virus and turned blue. As a way to cure themselves, Cable and Deadpool end up merging (due to Cables abilities) and he ends up throwing up Wade Wilson and absorbing part of Deadpools DNA. Due to the incident of him and Deadpool turning the world pink. After a few days he cures the world and becomes the "Saviour," something he ends up titling himself.

Downside for Cable? Now that he has merged with Deadpool, whenever he uses his space station named "Graymalkin teleporter, he ends up teleporting Wade with him whether he wants to or not. Unfortunately, their first meeting prior to the Cable and Deadpool series, he first met Wade when Wade was hired to kill Cable.

In the End, They're Friends.

Whether Cable liked it or not, Deadpool and the X-Factor ended up being his family that he never had. Something that Cable seemed quite uncomfortable with for quite some time, but in the Cable and Deadpool series, they end up becoming unique comrades. Their camaraderie spanned 50 comic books for their dedicated series. Hopefully the movies can portray this as Josh Brolin takes center stage as one of Marvels most unique characters.
