Welcome home.

The teaser trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has finally been released, so I will be breaking this down as much as I can, interpreting shots, giving information, and making some predictions about the film.

Here we go!

So, straight from the start, we're getting some shots of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And this is pretty awesome, because if there was one thing the first film was lacking, it was Hogwarts.

We then see three people Apparate into Hogwarts. Those familiar with the original series would know that you can't Apparate on Hogwarts grounds. But this script was written by J.K. Rowling, so she HAS to have a logical explanation for this.

My guess is that this took place before the Anti-Apparition Charm was planted on the school.

We hear a character say, "I have some questions for you, professor." None of the people in the room look familiar, except for Tina. As Tina is there, I'd assume that this is MACUSA, but the line is spoken in a British accent. So...American or British?

It is revealed through a line of dialogue that Newt is going to Paris.

Then, there's this shot of several street lamps being put out by a Deluminator (or Put-Outer). Dumbledore is the one who first created the device, and made it, so maybe Dumbledore's the one using it here, the way he does at the beginning of Sorcerer's Stone.

Now, I don't want to get too far-fetched and nerdy on you guys, but that telephone booth behind Newt had better not be some random telephone booth. It should be one of the entrances to the Ministry of Magic.

Also, Newt is looking up at something, with a quizzical expression. What could he be watching?

We now get a shot of Jude Law as Professor Dumbledore, with Newt standing behind him on the roof of an unknown building.

Now, I hope I can watch Law's performance and truly believe he is Dumbledore. This film takes place in 1927, and we saw in the sixth Potter film that this is how Dumbledore looked in 1938.

So, even though the Harry Potter films aren't canon, I do hope that as the Fantastic Beasts series progresses, Law is made to look more and more like Michael Gambon.

But my problem with the continuity will still be the fact that Law speaks with an English accent, and both Gambon and Richard Harris, who played Dumbledore in the original films, spoke with Irish accents. But hey, you can't get everything.

We get a shot of Dumbledore here, and he appears to be in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, though he is a Transfiguration teacher at this time.

I believe that MACUSA is reaching out to Dumbledore about Newt, because in the first one, it was made clear that Dumbledore pushed strongly against the expulsion of Newt. So, they have a friendship.

This shot has two characters in the front. From the back, you can tell that the one on the left is Grindelwald. And to my knowledge, the woman to the right of Grindelwald is a character named Vinda Rosier.

In promo pics of the film, the character is seen next to him.

According to the Harry Potter Wiki, Rosier is a loyal and trusted follower of Grindelwald. So, the Grindelwald-Vinda relationship, I assume will be similar to the Voldemort-Bellatrix relationship.

We also know some other members of the Rosier family, including Druella Rosier, who is the mother of Bellatrix Lestrange, Narcissa Malfoy, and Andromeda Tonks.

These are some shots of Tina and Jacob. Jacob regained his memory of his experiences in the final scene of Fantastic Beasts. So, that explains why he's back and ready for some more adventures.

We also hear the narration, "The time is coming, Newt. When you're gonna have to pick a side." I assume that these words mean that Newt has to choose between the good or bad side. Maybe, like Luke Skywalker, he'll be tempted with the dark side.

Now, we have these two people. We can't see their faces, but from looking at this promo picture, we know that the one on the right is Credence (who is alive), and the one on the right is a new character.

This character is unnamed, but she is known as an "unidentified Maledictus," who carries a blood curse that makes her transform into a beast.

Given her body language in the picture, and her similarities to Credence, I'd say that there could be some romance between these two.

Alright, and Queenie's back in the action. Not really doing anything in this trailer, but good to see you.

We get a shot of a Bowtruckle running around, presumably Pickett.

In these shots, Credence becomes enraged at something, and hits a glass sphere, which appear to have creatures in them.

We also have this shot of Grindelwald. Given that Grindelwald escapes custody in this film, I assume that this shot is near the beginning of the film, before he escapes, as he is very clearly in custody.

Dumbledore tells Newt that he can't go against Grindelwald. Newt needs to do it, which is obviously something good ol' Dumbledore would do.

This is a pretty good shot of Newt with his brother, Theseus. Theseus is a World War I veteran, like Jacob. And he is described as a "war hero," so if you look at his hands, you'll see that he is holding his wand like a gun.

And just before the final title card, we see a tiny bit of the Deathly Hallows symbol.

Will they come into play in the film or is it just a little something to appease fans?

Now, there's another shot that I want to talk about, and it's this one:

It doesn't seem like much, but let's zoom in.

This appears to be a family tree. Corvus Lestrange is the head of the family. The one on the right is Leta Lestrange, and her half-brother, according to the family tree, is Credence Barebone, if I'm reading that name correctly.

And that would mean that Credence is related to Bellatrix Lestrange.

By the way, I'm not the one who found this. There aren't a lot of guys who'd be smart enough to zoom in and see this, but Jon Carlin of the SuperCarlinBrothers did.

Anyways, that's my trailer breakdown! This movie looks awesome and I am definitely gonna be watching it.
