Fox in a Box

Whats going on guys? It's Dan… nis... Hello? … Uhm, Hello? Sorry guys since I’ve gotten back... back from the other side things have been a little wonky. There I think I have a better connection. Alright, well I followed. I decided to take a closer look at this “Mr. Fox” guy, fox… guy and what I found is something I would compare the upside down. Or better yet Marvel’s muli-verse to be confirmed!

Story:

Parallel universes are no longer just fiction. A tormented soul has opened a portal into a dark dimension, and unspeakable evils have entered our world, threatening our very existence. You are a secret order of guardians sworn to protect our planet. You must venture into this wicked world and close the portal from the other side in order to save our own from complete destruction. You are our only hope.

Details:

This locations offers a grand total of seven different games, but a total of eight rooms. WHAT?! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?! Well simple, Fox in a Box offers something very unique to their locations. They have two Bunkers, but we can get into that when the time for the bunker review comes. This location is right on Sunset Blvd, just before Beverly Hills and just a little outside Hollywood, so plenty to do. Their prices start at $105 for one to three players, and after that it's $35 dollars per player. Fox in a box likes to keep things private, so there is no mixing of groups, you and your team get to fail or succeed on your own. Now, be prepared to enter the world unknown because as of right now my view on the other side is ⅗ difficulty.

(NOTE: I beta tested this room so there was no rating yet, but by the time you read this, there may be).

Visuals:

So this room isn’t initially going to WOW you. Walking in, it looks exactly as you would expect an escape room to look like. I mean it wasn’t so minimal that you stood there asking yourself “I spent $100 for this”? But it was decorated enough to keep you interested. As the story goes, you are entering someone’s home, you know the home with the demonic stuff not so hidden around you? The oddly placed posters, stuff in places obviously not so obvious. Now I'm not saying it didn’t look good, no, no, no. Im saying it looked like a game. But then there’s stuff on the opposite end, on the other side. A not so simple room, filled with something out of Stranger Things. I can’t complain too much about it, seeing I was a little hesitant to wander around, and not because I was afraid, but because I wanted to appreciate the visuals, you know from afar. I would have to give Mr. Fox four out of five candles.

Puzzles:

Originally Fox in a Box is a company that offers generation one games. Generation one being the classic lock and combo style games. However, this game proves to be different, expect one lock, just one, as if they ran out of ideas on how to put to make another action-reaction puzzle for a three digit. Most action reaction games, don’t have anything to do with numbers, their combinations are placement of sorts. This game had a mix of both placement reaction puzzles and simple puzzles. There wasn’t anything too mind boggling, but there was one puzzle we kinda looked at each other because it didn't really fit the story. The puzzle itself was simplistic enough to where it can be altered to fit the story, so hopefully they do that. So with that being said four out of five dice.

Overall:

You know, your team can make all the difference. Not in the sense of winning or losing, but making it all around entertaining and getting to the other side was entertaining... I can see many teams appreciating the visuals of the other side and what Mr. Fox has to offer. Fox in a Box is moving toward having their rooms be more action reaction and updated, along with other games through Los Angeles.
