From Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' to Inhumans—Your Guide to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's TV Series!

Whether alongside ABC, Hulu, or Netflix, Marvel Entertainment has a lot of projects in the works! Matters kicked off with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but since then Marvel has successfully expanded into Netflix with the tremendously successful Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Those shows are only the beginning of Marvel's epic small-screen adventures - here's your guide to the Marvel TV that we know about...

The MCU's first hit on the small-screen, #AgentsOfSHIELD is currently in its fourth season. Starring Clark Gregg's Agent #Coulson, Season 1 explored the mystery of how he had been resurrected; that resurrection became the key to unleashing a whole new race of superheroes and villains, the Inhumans!

As with all shows involving Joss Whedon, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been notable for its character-work; Chloe Bennett's Daisy Johnson started out as an orphaned hacker seeking the truth about her parents. She learned her family's dark history in Season 2, and has now come to embrace her Inhuman heritage as she assembles the Secret Warriors.

Nobody went through more changes than too-good-to-be-true 'perfect agent' Grant Ward, played by Brett Dalton, who was revealed to be #Hydra's spy in Coulson's team. Ward descended into madness, his obsession with 'closure' leading him to take over Hydra, and ultimately driving him to death on an alien world. Unfortunately, his body made a nice home for a devastating threat...

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is, in many ways, the 'tie-in' show. It's troubled first season was transformed by the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, while Season 2's power struggles within S.H.I.E.L.D. led directly into Avengers: Age of Ultron. This season has been divided into three segments - "Ghost Rider," "LMD," and an as-yet-unknown third arc that will resume after a six-week hiatus.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot

A surprising six-episode miniseries, Slingshot aired digitally during the first mid-season break of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4. It charted the adventures of Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Yo-Yo Rodriguez, the super-speeding Inhuman who has proven her mettle time and again. It's an interesting approach for Marvel Entertainment, and could be the first of many digital series.

Hayley Atwell's success in Captain America: The First Avenger led to Marvel Studios commissioning a short series of #AgentCarter to show in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s mid-season break. They were perhaps surprised by how successful it was; stepping back in time to the aftermath of World War II, Agent Carter showed its star kicking @$$ in a way women really weren't supposed to back in the Fifties. In an MCU overly dominated by men, it was a refreshing change.

Unfortunately, viewing figures - and a tough schedule for Hayley Atwell - finally conspired against Agent Carter. After two seasons, ABC chose to cancel the show.

Cloak and Dagger

Perhaps the most surprising of Marvel's ABC shows, #CloakAndDagger is currently filming in New Orleans. The stars of the show have been confirmed as Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt, with the series set to be a young-adult romance.

Damage Control

ABC's strangest Marvel project is Damage Control, a comedy starring the company who have the job of clearing up after superhero battles. The idea's set to be used in Spider-Man: Homecoming, so we have no way of knowing if this show is ever going to happen.

Spearheading Marvel's surprising entrance onto Netflix, #Daredevil put the spotlight on Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock. Daredevil has a chequered past - a previous movie début was something of a flop - but Season 1 was a tremendous success. Fans reacted with shock as they found themselves entering a grimmer, much more bloody world than anything Marvel had ever offered before. The deep psychology of the character was compelling, and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin swiftly established himself as one of the deepest, most compelling villains in the MCU.

Season 2 introduced us to Jon Bernthal's Punisher, as well as Elodie Yung's Elektra. Netflix has confirmed Season 3, which will start filming later this year.

The Defenders

The ultimate goal of Marvel's Netflix shows, #TheDefenders will unite Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage - possibly with other characters such as Elektra or Hellcat - as a team. The series is now confirmed to air in August 2017!

Inhumans

Although #Marvel originally planned an #Inhumans movie as part of Phase Three, those plans were dropped after last year's structural reorganization. Instead, Marvel Entertainment has essentially taken charge of the property, and is planning to launch the series in September 2017. Uniquely, the first two episodes will air exclusively at IMAX theaters worldwide, with the series then airing on ABC; we recently got basic information on the characters, and the show is due to start filming in Hawaii.

Iron Fist

A master of martial arts, #IronFist is traditionally associated with Luke Cage, so it's no surprise this Immortal Weapon has made his way over to Netflix! Finn Jones's starring role was controversial, but Marvel's undoubtedly hoping they can put that behind them - the series was actually remarkably successful on Netflix.

Heavily inspired by Brian Bendis's Alias comic series, #JessicaJones was Marvel's second Netflix success. Where Daredevil Season 1 was bloody and brutal, Jessica Jones Season 1 was a psychological thriller in which Krysten Ritter's title character got her head messed up good. The villain of the piece was the scintillating Purple Man, wonderfully portrayed by David Tennant, while the backup cast included Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Rachael Taylor's Patsy Walker (Hellcat in the comics).

Although the series received just as positive a response as Daredevil, Season 2 won't air until after The Defenders.

Already making his debut as the tough-skinned warrior in Jessica Jones Season 1, Mike Colter's signed up for at least one season of #LukeCage. The show is moody and atmospheric, and has exploited the environment of Harlem for maximum effect!

The Punisher

After the explosive success of Daredevil Season 2, Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as the #Punisher in an exciting addition to Marvel's Netflix slate. Writer and executive producer Steve Lightfoot is serving as showrunner, and the series will hit Netflix in 2017.

Runaways

In a surprising twist, the fan-favorite #Runaways comic is being adapted into a Marvel series for Hulu! Runaways tells the story of six teenagers who uncover a horrifying secret - their parents are actually supervillains! A coming-of-age drama, the script will be written by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, creators of Gossip Girl.

These are only the shows we know are in the works. In addition, there's a mysterious series being developed by John Ridley, creator of American Crime - we've not had any information about this show. There are also unconfirmed rumors of a New Warriors series, a humorous show that will star Squirrel Girl. Although Marvel has had a couple of shows cancelled, these remain exciting times to be a Marvel fan - the MCU continues to expand on to the small screen, and who knows what's going to be announced next?
