We are now in an age where enough time has passed where a lot of the classic films we held dear to our hearts that came out back in the 90s are now being rebooted/remade as the film technology we now have allows us to take these films and give them a huge upgrade. Just this year we have seen Beauty and the Beast make a huge impact in the box office where instead of an animated film, we got the same story with the same beloved songs in a live action film.

Not all remakes do so well as we have seen with films such as Baywatch that also came out this year, which critics tore into and it not doing nearly as well in the box office as other reboots we have seen. This is what makes a lot of fans nervous with seeing films they hold dear to their hearts being redone as not all of them can still hold true to the original. Jumanji is not an exception when it comes to this as lots of fans love the original with Robin Williams, and it will be hard for the film to feel the same without those beloved actors coming back to the film.

It will be interesting to see is how they take the film from 1995 and create a new way of telling the same story while keeping some of the same elements from the original film that is widely loved. Let's take a look at what we can expect to see.

Here we get to see four very different characters that end up having to work together due to the circumstances they are in. A classic film trope used to show how these characters would never really hang out together in the first place but due to the circumstances they are in, work together and get to learn more about each other along the way.

Board game? Nope. We have upgraded to an older looking gaming console that is found while working on the project they have been assigned to.

Jumanji seems like it would be a harmless game to play while taking a break from cleaning up the storage room. Here we get introduced to each type of game character they each pick before they get sucked into the game itself. Same concept as the first film, upgraded technology.

Not only have we changed from tiny little game pieces on a board game the players of the game are transported into the bodies of the actual game characters within the game of Jumanji. We have a much more diverse set of players, upgraded looks for some of them and no risk of the game interfering with the real world (at least from what we have seen so far).

It seems like we have definitely upgraded as we have increased the amount of characters we see in the film, many more animal interactions and they didn't hold back on all the action scenes as we can see here in the trailer.

Now, for me, nothing will be the original Jumanji as it holds a special place in my heart. It will be interesting to see how they have taken the concept from the original film and create a new exciting film with more action and comedic interactions. As we are now in a era of films being remade and rebooted, I have high expectations for how well this film will be executed.

What are your thoughts on the new take on a classic film? Let us know! Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle comes out 20, December 2017.
