YouTube is a magical place for those of us in the modern day. There are days where YouTube seems to be one of the best places to go if you want to sit on your couch, grab a bag of popcorn, and a large cup of soda. The reward is outstanding at times and what you will witness even more so. Especially since we live in a world where movies are currently struggling as one box-office hits due to sequel fatigue while others see massive success like Wonder Woman.

While low budget fan films can surely make us cringe, there are plenty out there that serve some fantastic stories, ones that leave us hankering for more. Whether the graphics are great or not, these fan films serve up some of the best stories to date, which is exactly what we are about to take a look at.

There's no doubt that Mercy is one of Blizzard's most beloved characters by fans of Overwatch. Between her, D.VA, and Widowmaker; Blizzard has their hands full due to the fan demand of them. Thanks to Lupin Productions on YouTube, we get a glimpse of what Overwatch could look like when dedicated fans of the game come together. The short serves up as a backstory behind who Mercy is. Amber Adams delivers a solid role as the character without straying from whom Mercy is.

The short shows Mercy through her eyes as the Omnics push forth upon the last sanctuaries of humanity. If this short proves anything, it's that even Blizzard has something big on their hands, and they have some seriously dedicated fans that want to see more of the franchise outside of shorts.

If you've already checked out my colleague Alexander Abbey's previous article 'The Best The 12 Best Superhero (And More) Fan Films On The Internet', you already know Spawn: The Recall is absolutely fascinating, and probably one of the most WELL done Spawn themed fan-films.

It's a short that's completely dark, brooding, and puts fans in the need for a film with a heavy R rating from the ratings boards. The short takes place when a former witch and her son go shopping. They try to stave off a situation that would lead them back to the darkness.

Because of her child disappearing, he is tricked into taking off his charm that prevents the darkness from getting to him. To prevent further harm from happening, Spawn comes to his rescue, and unfortunately for her; Al Simmons has also found her. Except, we can't spoil the entire short for you! So click the video above and check it out in its entirety. If this leaves you hungering for more, you can always head over to Netflix and watch the original 1997 Spawn movie or read up here on Movie Pilot about the upcoming rated R Spawn reboot.

If you aren't familiar with impersonator Jamie Costa, you are missing out. The talented impersonator has managed to capture the hearts of many with his impressions of the dearly missed Robin Williams as Mrs. Doubtfire, Jack Nicholson's version of The Joker, and even Ian McKellan as Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings.

In the short Han Solo has managed to cause some trouble while smuggling what looks to be a lightsaber of a fallen Jedi or Sith. Because of this, he's also become double-crossed in his attempt to free his Wookie companion Chewbaca. While we all know Han Solo is a good troublemaker, this short gives us no doubt that Jamie Costa should have been given the role of Han Solo in the Han Solo movie in the upcoming Ron Howard production.

Star Wars is one of those franchises that everyone loves, that everyone endears, and almost everyone wants to be apart of in some shape or form. For fans of the franchise, the takes on the series have always been approach on the Jedi, the smugglers, or the Sith.

This short takes a turn that many of us may be familiar with thanks to Star Wars: Rogue One and the changes it made to A New Hope. This latest fan-film is one that will rip at your heart as it tells the story of an Imperial Stormtrooper named TK-436. In this short he must face his past as a heated battle takes place between rebels and the Empire.

If there's any series that has struggled to meet adult audiences, there's no doubt that Saban's Power Rangers has struggled to capture fans and lure them in. With a grittier, darker outlook, the Power Rangers reboot is one that serves up a perfect dose of what a hard rated-R reboot would look like.

In the short the future is grim. One where the likes of Katee Sackhoff picks up the role of Kimberly and James Vanderbeek as Jason. The short foreshadows the fall of the Power Rangers as they have grown older and let themselves wrap up into the darker sides of themselves due to the battle against Rita Repulsa. If Hollywood took a few twists from this fan-film, it would surely serve up a delightful dish until Power Rangers 2 gets announced thanks to its... Action figures sales?

With Justice League having just finished up a significant amount of reshoots, there's no doubt that we are craving more of Ben Affleck's caped crusader as he rounds up a team of vigilantes, and hopes to protect Earth any way possible. Because of this, it's a perfect time to look into Gotham City and Arkham itself.

Serving as one of the most beloved villains of the DC Universe, Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke is one that seems to be missing in the cinematic universes, and is one that deserves a chance in cinema. Because of this, our final short is one that gives us a glimpse of him as he takes on the goons lead by Black Mask. This short will definitely be leaving you reeling for more of the character and from the team that produced the short.
