We're in the final run-up for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and excitement is at fever pitch. Tom Holland's wondrous wall-crawler is set to shine in his first solo movie, a film that takes full advantage of #SpiderMan's incredible rogues' gallery. That's one reason so many fans are excited about the film; after all, along with Spider-Man himself, the #MCU is gaining potentially countless new characters! So which supervillains are going to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming?

The Vulture!

The main villain is Adrian Tombs, better known as the Vulture. This classic Spider-Man supervillain was introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #2, but has rarely been taken seriously. Sam Raimi planned to use the character as the main villain for the aborted Spider-Man 4, with the goal of turning the Vulture into a savage and dangerous foe. It looks as though Spider-Man: Homecoming is going to run with that idea!

In Homecoming, the Vulture will be something of a disgruntled blue-collar worker who feels life has dealt him a bad hand. He gathers together a crew to begin something of a crime-wave - and soon matters are heading in a very dangerous direction...

The Tinkerer!

Michael Chernus has been confirmed as the terrible Tinkerer - an unlikely addition to the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming! The Tinkerer is a classic #Marvel villain, a genius who tends to work in the background and give advanced technology to other supervillains. On occasion, he's even held auctions for items as rare as the Venom symbiote!

The Tinkerer will clearly be the brains of the Vulture's outfit, arming the crew with all the advanced tech they need. In the #MCU, he seems to be a genius who's skilled at reverse-engineering advanced tech; we've already seen examples of Chitauri weapons!

The Shocker!

Bokeem Woodbine is playing the Shocker, another classic Spider-Man villain! The Shocker wears gauntlets that can project devastating vibrational waves of energy. Although he's not seen as a major threat, the fact remains that - in favorable circumstances - he's come remarkably close to beating Spider-Man. In the MCU, it looks as though his gauntlets are reverse-engineered from those worn by Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War.

Montana

We now know that Logan Marshall-Green is playing 'Montana' Brice, a classic Spider-Man villain who hung out with a gang known as the Enforcers. Interestingly enough, in the popular Spectacular Spider-Man series the Enforcers were given advanced tech by... the Tinkerer.

These are only the main bad guys, though. With the official cast list now out, it's been confirmed that a lot of other characters are being set up for the future. I've covered those in a separate post, but be warned: spoilers.

Spider-Man's always been known for the quality of his rogues' gallery, but I have to say that I'm thrilled to see how well that's being represented in the MCU. Homecoming is set to give us some Z-list villains that Marvel fans would never have expected to see on the big screen; I mean, who could possibly have predicted that Marvel would ever develop Montana? As an old-school fan of everyone's favorite Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, I for one couldn't be more delighted...
