DC Comics’ titles will continue to raise the summer temperatures in August as several storylines will boil over and keep fans intrigued all the way through Labor Day.

What titles do you need to keep an eye out for? Read on to find out!

Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo’s “METAL” Begins

Iconic Batman creative team Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s epic summer adventure begins! DARK NIGHTS: METAL is expected to push the Caped Crusader, the Man of Steel, and the Justice League’s boundaries to its maximum levels. The Dark Multiverse is on the horizon, and its residents have set their sights on the World’s Greatest Superheroes. Who are these new threats? How will they shake up the DCU? Find out on August 16, when the first part of this six-issue miniseries begins!

Lex Luthor vs. Mr. Oz

The legendary Superman villain is expected to face-off against the man known as Mr. Oz in the pages of Action Comics. Can Superman trust Lex Luthor? How will Lex Luthor confront Mr. Oz? Who will win this fight of epic proportions? Find out when the Action Comics creative team of Rob Williams and Guillem March release the first two parts of “Eve of Destruction” on August 9 (Action Comics #985) and August 23 (Action Comics #986).

“The War of Jokes & Riddles” intensifies

Gotham City’s greatest adversaries, the Joker and the Riddler, continue to face off for control of Gotham’s costumed criminal underworld. As Batman’s Rogues Gallery choose sides, the Dark Knight will be forced to make a dangerous decision. Batman’s Tom King and Mikel Janin will present the latest parts of this blockbuster storyline on August 2 (Batman #28) and August 16 (Batman #29).

The New Gods return in Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps

The New Gods must recruit Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner when alien hunters target Orion and Highfather. How will the Green Lantern Corps face off against these hunters when they've already defeated Orion? Fans can find out on August 9 (Issue 26) and August 23 (Issue 27) when the series creative team of Robert Venditti, Rafa Sandoval, and Jordi Tarragona present “Fall of the Gods.”

Harley Quinn celebrates her 25th Birthday!

August will be a busy month for everyone’s favorite anti-heroine! On August 2, Harley Quinn will celebrate her 25th birthday with an oversized 25th-anniversary issue in her solo title as Harley and her friends help Sy Borgman commemorate his birthday. Over in the August 9 and August 23 editions of Suicide Squad, Amanda Waller orders Harley and the team to shut down Batman’s Justice League of America team. But can the team overcome an international array of Task Force Xs? Meanwhile, the Injustice version of Harley Quinn will lead that universe’s Suicide Squad into battle on August 2 in the seventh issue of Injustice 2.

Mister Miracle flies solo!

Mister Miracle is about to fly solo in an astonishing 12-part maxi-series with the creative team of writer Tom King and artist Mitch Gerads. Scott Free and his wife, Big Barda, have a new mission: to escape death! Find out if Mr. Free is successful when the first chapter of the new adventure is dropped on August 9. (Caution: this story is for mature readers.)

DC celebrates Jack Kirby’s 100th birthday

The House that Superman and Batman built will pay homage to one of America’s greatest comic book creators of all time: Jack Kirby. In honor of the King’s 100th birthday, many creators will put their twist on Jack Kirby’s iconic characters with several one-shot adventures. Shane Davis, Michelle Delecki, and Walter Simonson will pay homage to the New Gods on August 2, while Howard Chaykin unites the Newsboy Legion and the Boy Commandos for an August 9 one-shot. Meanwhile, Mark Evanier, Scott Kolins, Sam Humphries, and Steve Rude will take fans to Apokolips for two unique adventures highlighting the planet’s wicked ruler and one of DC Comics’ greatest villains of all-time: Darkseid! Prepare to kneel to Darkseid on August 30.
