Well, rub my fleeb and call me a plumbus, Rick and Morty only went and did it. After an Indiana Jones-esque crusade for McDonald's Szechuan dipping sauce, it seems that co-creator Justin Roiland is finally be able to get his mouth flaps on a jug of that sweet stuff.

Fans of Adult Swim's show will likely remember that condiment chaos gripped the internet when the Season 3 premiere leaked early online. Even for #RickandMorty, a subplot about a discontinued McDonald's sauce was a little out there, but now the fast food conglomerate has gifted #JustinRoiland a treat for his tireless efforts.

A Sticky Situation

Talking to his fans at Comic-Con, the show's madcap inventor revealed that the golden arches finally gave in and managed to track down a honeypot of the stuff. A two-decade dream is coming true, and Roiland now had a stash of the dipping sauce in his possession.

Roiland has held a torch for the sticky stuff since 1998, and it seemed that his hopes of tasting it once more were squanched to the history pages — until now:

“I heard they had a limited batch at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Canada. I called every McDonald’s in L.A. and went online. I even might have tried to connect with people in Canada to see if they could mail it to me — and that failed.”

Released for a limited time to celebrate the release of Disney's Mulan, the Szechuan dipping sauce may have been popular at the time, but nothing compares to its resurgence thanks to Rick and Morty. Serving a bonafide version of Rick's addictive potion from Season 1's "Rick Potion No. 9," fans of the show came down with a serious case of Szechuan sickness. Petitions were launched, people tried making it themselves, and pots of the stuff began reaching ludicrous figures on sites like eBay.

The episode "The Rickshank Redemption" revealed that our titular Rick Sanchez would continue his quest for the sauce for the next nine seasons (consider that one hell of a wait), but it seems that Roiland didn't have to wait anywhere near as long.

Taking to social media, Roliand confirmed that a fresh batch of the stuff made it straight into his hands from Dimension C-1998M (a reference to Mulan we imagine). Along with a "schwifty" message from Chef Mike, McDonald's also seemed to confirm that a "lucky few" would also get to try the sauce. So, have we done it, have all our saucy dreams finally come true?

Although McDonald's has acknowledged the fevered excitement for Szechuan dipping sauce, there is still no news on whether we will see a full revival of that brown bounty, however, Roiland's note points to some sort of reveal. Perhaps if Ronald stopped clowning around, we could see a limited release of Rick and Morty Szechuan sauce heading to a Blips and Chitz near you soon.
