Quick Review of Heist Society

First let me start off by explaining how Ally Carter is forever a favorite author of mine. I have loved all her series no matter when I've read them. Unfortunately, when I first picked up Heist Society in high school, I couldn't get into it. It killed me I wasn't sucked into Carter's book.

However, I came back to Heist Society a few months ago and gave it another chance. I absolutely loved it!

If you enjoy spy-like series, or heist films even, then you would enjoy this first piece of a trilogy. Following Kat, the retired thief looking for a normal life, the story flows smoothly and keeps you interested in if she can accomplish her goal. She gathers a crew of thieves and tech experts to steal back paintings from a high security museum the Henley. This is all in hopes to save her father and friends.

As the norm for a Carter novel, Heist Society follows the schedule of a deadline or project. This makes everything more interesting to read because you can feel the anxiousness of Kat as the deadlines get closer and closer.

Each character is fun and quirky, some even a bit mysterious and they make a reader want to keep going. It also plays with a reader's mind in wondering just who can be trusted in the novel.

Kat also creates an inspiring heroine for any young girl reading the book. She is smart, witty, and very skilled at what she does best. Not saying any young girl should go and steal paintings from a museum though. Kat can just give a strength and realistic image to being who a girl wants to be and having skills against the stereotypical box for women society holds them in.

Carter draws in readers with yet another unique genre and original heist story. The overall plot is interesting enough to flow smoothly as a series and is paced very well. She creates relatable characters with real flaws and uses those flaws to develop the characters.

Overall, Heist Society gets a 4/5 stars in this quick review and is a great, quick read for a spill of action needed in a reader's life.
