For a while now, there has been speculation about Once Upon a Time bringing on Captain Hook's father and giving more of his backstory. Hook has had a bit of his past touched on in the show, mostly his history with Rumplestiltskin. However, there was an episode that went into why he became a pirate and mutinied against authority back in Season 3. Very little is known about his father outside of the fact that he abandoned both of his sons at a young age.

New York City Comic Con held a Once Upon a Time panel where the show runners confirmed that before the midseason finale we would be getting an episode that delves more into young Killian's past.

The show has finally found a man to play his father in Adam Croasdell. He is best known for his role as Dr. Al Jenkins on BBC's soap opera Eastenders, but has also guest starred on Supernatural and Body of Proof.

With the last name "Jones" it is a wonder on whether or not the character may be the son of Davy Jones, which is why both Killian and Liam had such a deep affinity for the sea. Davy Jones is also a man about honor, you do not break a deal with him, and Hook has always said that though he is a villain, he has always been honorable.

With this new casting, this season continues to look as though it is shaping up to be an interesting one. It will be interesting to see more of Hook's past, as well as seeing how much of his father is in the once villainous pirate.
