While it may be a few years before we see Kong take on Godzilla in an all-out brawl, we recently learned of the feature movie being moved up. The move is only a week in advance but the announcement has set King Kong Vs. Godzilla for a 2020 release date.

Before Kong takes on Godzilla in their joint feature, we'll have Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, which we can assume will provide us with another tease of #KingKongvsGodzilla. Our first hint at their stories intersecting came in the post-credits scene of Kong: Skull Island, which depicted a young Godzilla. So, it's fair to say Godzilla: King Of The Monsters will include further hints of their upcoming conflict, possibly giving an equal nod to King Kong.

Cast of 'Skull Island' Answers: Who Would Win in a Fight Between Godzilla and Kong?

Whatever the case may be, their monstrous showdown will be one for the ages. Of course, there are a few factors that'll determine who wins that fight. Before we debate on which monster has the advantage in that fight, let's hear what the cast of Kong: Skull Island had to say in regards to which monster would win:

So there you have it — the majority of Skull Island's cast think Kong would win, but why? Most of them assume Kong would win even though he's actually quite smaller than Godzilla (judging by his 2014 movie appearance). That Godzilla was at least as tall as a skyscraper, whereas Kong only estimated to about 70ft tall.

A fact that went highly overlooked during #KongSkullIsland was the idea that Kong is still growing. Samuel L. Jackson reaffirmed that notion in the video above. So, Kong's growth rate is likely to accelerate in the 30–40 year gap between Skull Island and Kong Vs. Godzilla. At any rate, the behemoths will be on par with one another when it comes to size. However, Godzilla still has the advantage thanks to his radioactive fire-breath.

Godzilla's uses his signature radioactive breath at least once almost every time we see him, including the 2014 Godzilla movie, when it took down the Mutos. This is a powerful ability that could be used to topple Kong.

Does Kong's Intelligence Give Him the Edge Over Godzilla?

Despite potentially growing to Godzilla's size, Kong will still have to contend with a face full of radioactive fire. Godzilla probably can't use the ability non-stop, but it's fair to assume he can use it long enough to keep Kong at bay. However, there's definitely an argument for Kong to be able to outsmart Godzilla.

From what we saw in Skull Island, that version of Kong appeared to be quite intelligent. Most versions of King Kong have depicted the gorilla with some degree of intelligence, but the latest version showcased his higher-level intelligence when Kong carried a weapon into battle. To be fair, it was an impromptu weapon, but that doesn't take anything away from Kong using a tool or weapon in a fight with Godzilla. Kong's ability to think beyond his animal instincts may prove to be the winning ticket in said fight.

Regardless of theories, we'll have to wait and see what happens in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters to determine how Godzilla will face King Kong. For all we know, Godzilla could be gravely injured in the preceding movie, leaving him in a weakened state when he faces down King Kong. In that scenario, Kong would absolutely have the advantage. But what would be the fun in Kong completely overpowering Godzilla? They need to be on a level playing field to accurately portray how their superfight would go down.

King Kong Vs. Godzilla opens in theaters on May 22, 2020
