Mika dresses a lot like this for most of the comic... it's great!

I must admit I am pretty new to reading manga consistently, so I may be unfamiliar with some of the etiquette. Personally I'm still getting used to reading from right to left, and some stories can be brutal at times. These comics are of a really high quality, and they seem to do it a lot different in Japan. The black and white is a small price to pay for the brilliant artwork, which is monumental at times. The comic industry in the West could learn a lot from the East, who really draw a window into their soul when producing content. Luckily the internet fans no longer have to fork out big money to read quality content. With the likes of Manga Kiss and Manga Rock one can literally spend hours reading quality graphic novels. I picked this one up on the back of reading Goblin Slayer, as it appeared in my recommended panel on 'Manga Rock.'

I fought the law...

Rookie Takeshi and Miki seem to get along pretty well, despite his erratic behavior.

I can't lie; the big breasted, gun wielding lady was a good sell for this novel. There's a lot here, if you like your manga with lots of half naked ladies, and it's definitely for mature readers. The story follows a rookie detective called Kondou Takeshi, as he starts his career at the Aihama Police Department. Unbeknown to him, this is an all-female department, filled with scantily clad officers. When I picked this up I actually expected more of an action based story, but it's more of a comedy. Takeshi is an absolute sex-fiend, who under normal circumstances would be fired, and probably jailed for his behavior. He uses the death of his sister as a comedic excuse to grope the many attractive officers in the unit. In true comedic fashion they mainly use it as an excuse to strike the young upstart. With Takeshi being the only male in the department, the female officers seem to excuse his behavior, and Miki even takes a bit of a shine to him. The story driven elements to this novel aren't great, and I would have expected a bit more action from the gun wielding on the front cover. Crimes the department have to deal with in this six part series include undercover operations to catch a rapist, as well as a robbery. There's a lot of backroom politics, which drives the narrative, which I found disappointing. The story is quite dull at times, and I didn't really appreciate the comedic elements slipping it's way into the action. When the narrative is dealing with serious issues such as capturing a rapist; you would think that the action would share that serious tone.

'Keep your hands where I can see them!'

Aihama Station brings out all sorts of behavior in the male Detective Takeshi.

Despite it's comedic tone, Iketeru Police is damn right perverted at times. Detective Takeshi will often visualize his female colleagues in a number of sexual encounters. This is definitely for mature readers, as it can be quite graphic at times. With this you would think that the action would have been of the same tone, and would have made for such a better graphic novel. His partner Miki is a decent character, and is quite the heroine at times. Other characters don't seem to stand out as much, except those who are higher up in authority within the police station. I would have liked to have seen more, if the artist had put more effort into the action sequences. Detective Takeshi subduing two hostage takers with his giant erection just doesn't count as a good action comic for me. Sadly am going to have to give this manga a two out of five; ridiculous tone lets down a well drawn book.

Two out of five.
