That was totally wicked!

Dun-dun-DUN-da-daaaaaa!! Dun-dun-dun-da-DAAAAAA!!

I am just a little bit obsessed with The Incredibles right now. We have been waiting for a sequel for fourteen years, and we have finally gotten a sequel to Pixar's family superhero movie.

Usually, I don't watch movies the first day they come out. But with this movie, I had to. Because A) It's Pixar, B) It's a superhero movie, C) It's the closest thing Pixar has to an action movie, and D) I'VE BEEN WAITING YEARS FOR THIS!!

So, it's time for a review. Like my previous film reviews, I'll start off the article completely spoiler-free, but after a certain point, I'll send out a warning before the rest of the article becomes riddled with spoilers.

The movie starts off with the huge fight with the Underminer, meaning this film takes off immediately after the end of the original film.

Now, in one of my older articles, I was SO SURE that the Underminer fight we see in this film would not be the same one that gets set up at the end of The Incredibles, since at the end of the first film, Jack-Jack was on Helen's shoulders and in Incredibles 2, he's in a stroller.

Well, it turns out I was just overanalyzing and it was a continuity error between the films. But let me just say that the opening sequence with the Underminer fight is fantastic. It's filled with some amazing superhero action and a lot of family dynamics.

Pretty soon after the fight, Elastigirl is brought in to resume superhero work, while Bob has to stay behind and watch the kids.

I feel like a lot of us were a bit concerned about the fact that Syndrome wouldn't be back for this sequel. But I can pretty confidently say that the new villain of this film, Screenslaver, is a pretty good villain.

For the record, Screenslaver isn't as good of a villain as Syndrome, but Screenslaver is an extremely powerful villain in the film, who has the power of controlling minds through hypnotism. Pretty cool.

We also got to see a lot more of Jack-Jack's powers in this movie. His surprising set of powers, along with an unusual rivalry with an evil-looking raccoon, translates into some pretty hilarious moments in the film. Honestly, Jack-Jack steals the show in this movie.

Jack-Jack has so many more powers in this film that we didn't see in the original. We see him clone himself, shoot lasers out of his eyes, and travel through different dimensions.

I can't even believe anyone thought he'd be evil in the sequel.

The film's story is also INCREDIBLE. I don't want to say too much about the story or the action, because I don't want to ruin the experience for you. Just watch the trailers, buy your movie tickets in advance, and go see Incredibles 2.

P.S. If you want to find A113 in the film like I did, it appears TWICE. I can't train you to find it, but hopefully, you don't have dementia.

Those were hints, by the way.

Also, I have to say, this might be the most adult Pixar movie they've ever had. I mean, it's definitely a bunch of family fun, but they do use more mild language ("hell", "damn", "crap") than the standard for Pixar movies. I think alcoholic drinks were implied for a few scenes in this movie, too.

How does it compare to the original? The two movies are neck-and-neck. In terms of action, story, pacing, and characters, everything about this movie is on "Parr" with the original.

You know, I am patting myself on the back for coming up with that one. Nice job, me.

When it comes to writing and directing, as usual, Brad Bird did not disappoint. Fourteen years was worth the wait for Incredibles 2 and quite frankly, you need to watch it. Seriously. Right now. If you haven't seen it yet, get your shoes on and watch this movie. Go. Get outta here. No, seriously. Get out. Because spoilers ahead.

OH! And you're gonna get another Pixar short film before the movie starts. It's called Bao! (That's Chinese for "dumpling")

But seriously, if you haven't seen it yet, you need to get out. Now. In fact, I'll even put in a big picture here so that you don't accidentally scroll too far and read a spoiler.

Spongebob used to be so good.

Well, we were wrong.

I said it. I'll be the first to say it. A few months ago, we in the community of fan theorists were overjoyed, because of a video uploaded by Jace Diehl.

He concluded through the new Incredibles 2 Lego set that the villain of the movie, the man behind the Screenslaver mask, is none other than Winston Deavor.

AND WE WERE WRONG! SO SO WRONG!

I even wrote an article a few months ago, overjoyed about the finding, and how a fan theorist had cracked the case, but what do you know? I watched the movie, everything was going according to plan, but it ended up becoming increasingly clear that Evelyn was the surprise main antagonist, not Winston.

But we knew Evelyn would be a villain from the beginning, when we noticed how much "Evelyn Deavor" sounds like "evil endeavor." So, we were half-right, I guess.

What was interesting about the movie is that Screenslaver wasn't much of an antagonist. Elastigirl and Screenslaver had one fight, but it turns out to be an innocent pizza guy behind the mask, who had been hypnotized into performing Evelyn's commands.

Evelyn also turns the supers evil with hypnosis goggles, which makes her a very interesting villain. She doesn't really have a fight scene in the movie at all, but she kind of reflected Syndrome in a way.

Syndrome doesn't have superpowers, but uses technology against supers by killing them with the Omnidroid. Similarly, Evelyn doesn't have powers, but she also uses technology against the supers by turning the supers into the villains. Wow, I loved this movie.

If you didn't understand my A113 hints earlier in the article, but you've already seen the movie, I'll just tell you now.

On the train, when Elastigirl stops the train from going off the tracks, you can see A113 on the side of the train. You see it again at the end, when Violet and Tony are about to go to the movies, and the movie theater has a sign that shows they're playing "DEMENTIA 113." Glad I was able to catch those.

But like I said, I REALLY loved this movie, and hopefully, you do too.

I just kinda wish we saw Mirage again and that Dash could run on water again. I mean, the entire climax of the movie is on an ocean, and they couldn't get Dash to run on water? Ah, well. Still epic.
