Recently, Iron Fist debuted on Netflix. In the new Marvel series, we were introduced to Danny Rand and a number of new characters affiliated with Iron Fist. Among the new inductees to the Marvel TV universe was Harold Meachum, father to Joy and Ward Meachum.
How Was Harold Meachum Resurrected?
Initially introduced as the long dead co-founder of Rand Industries, Harold Meachum joins Iron Fist as a very unassuming character. It isn't until several episodes in, that we learn Harold died and was resurrected. Details surrounding Harold's resurrection weren't touched on but it's fairly obvious who resurrected him: the Hand. Harold himself says he was offered a deal by the Hand and he took it for a shot at another life. But before gaining access to this new life, Harold had to die.
What's interesting here is that Harold is the second henchmen for the Hand that has been brought back to life. If you recall, the Hand's general, Nobu also rose from the dead. He was mysteriously resurrected during Season 2 of Daredevil but was given a swift death by Stick, who cut Nobu's head clean off. That said, it seems like the Hand is more than capable of creating immortal soldiers - unless, their heads are cut off.
Still, we have no idea how the Hand is bringing people back to life. We've only seen the people who've been brought back to life by the Hand, we have yet to see the process take place. So, it's practically impossible to determine what method they're using to revive people. Who knows, the Hand may not even be reviving people. On Iron Fist, Harold Meachum proved he wasn't the same man after being brought to life so it's quite possible the people who are being resurrected are merely puppets controlled by the Hand.
Regardless of the answer, we'll have to wait for The Defenders series to make any conclusions on how the Hand is resurrecting its soldiers. But we should note that they probably have more immortal soldiers waiting in the wings so that'll be interesting. We may even see Bakuto return, if the Hand is resurrecting its soldiers.
Iron Fist is currently available for streaming on Netflix. The Defenders series airs later this year.
