Is Jesse Quick the next Speedster to Join S3 of the Flash?

Season Three of The Flash is going to be the biggest yet, especially with the Flashpoint arc starting it off. Not to mention all the new characters being inducted into the Flash/Arrowverse from the Flashpoint universe just being the tip of the iceberg. There's also the aspect of a massive crossover event taking place in the DCTV universe with The Flash at the heart of it — but The Flash still has more to offer in Season Three.

Post-Flashpoint: Will It Follow DC Comics?

Moving past the Flashpoint arc and the scheduled crossover event, there's still a whole back half of Season Three that has yet to be explored. Everything we've heard so far of The Flash has been geared towards the first half.

After Flashpoint has concluded and Barry Allen has (presumably) reset the timeline to its correct setting, the original timeline will likely change as well. Mainly due to the Flashpoint event in DC comics concluding with a merging of three Earths and two alternate timelines, which became known as the Prime Earth of DC Comics. In the comics, the creation of Prime Earth led to the entire DC universe being reborn.

A similar event could plausibly take place, mirroring the events of DC comics, where a merging of Earths and timelines happens. However, the result might be completely different from the DC Comics telling of Flashpoint. Anything is possible.

Magenta Episode Synopsis Reveals a Surprising Detail on Jesse Wells from Earth-2

More importantly, the latest news to break on The Flash has revealed the return of three central characters in Season Three: Harrison and Jesse Wells, and Jay Garrick. Their return to Earth-1 is of a curious nature because the last time we saw any of them, they were returning to Earth-2 — but it appears as though they're taking a trip back to Earth-1 in the third episode, titled "Magenta."

EARTH-2 WELLS AND JESSE RETURN TO CENTRAL CITY — Barry (Grant Gustin) and Team Flash are thrilled to reunite with Earth-2 Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Jesse (guest star Violett Beane). Wells confides to Barry and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) that Jesse has all the powers of a speedster and has been saving people on his Earth. He is concerned about her safety and wants them to talk her out of using her powers. Meanwhile, Magenta, (guest star Joey King) a new meta who can control metal, terrorizes the city.The Flash's visual effects maven Armen V. Kevorkian directed the episode, which was written by Judalina Neira & David Kob. It will air on October 18.

Most of the time, episode synopses don't reveal too many plot details, but the "Magenta" episode synopsis just let the cat out of the bag on a lot of what's happening during Season Three of The Flash.

For one, Jesse and Harrison Wells of Earth-2 are back on Earth-1, but they're back on Earth-1 during the Flashpoint event — which means that they won't be the same versions of themselves. To clear it up, since Flashpoint has created a brand new timeline, it's changed the timeline of events significantly enough on Earth-1 to where Earth-2 has changed alongside of it. In layman's terms, Earth-2 Harrison and Jesse Wells will be "reunited with Team Flash," but that version of Jesse Wells and Harrison Wells won't be the same Wells family we met during Season Two.

Along with Harrison and Jesse Wells returning, we also learn of Jesse Wells taking on her comic book alter-ego of Jesse Quick from the episode synopsis for "Magenta":

Wells confides to Barry and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) that Jesse has all the powers of a speedster and has been saving people on his Earth.

In Season Two of The Flash, the prospect of Jesse Wells becoming a speedster was more than hinted at when she was struck by the energy from the Particle Accelerator and wound up in a coma. It was then that Barry Allen passed on a jolt of speed-force to her to wake her up. It was assumed that Jesse would at least begin exhibiting some speedster abilities in the last few episodes of Season Two, but that didn't come to pass.

Speculation began to arise when fans started connecting the Jesse Wells of The Flash to the DC Comics iteration of the character, who goes on to become the speedster Jesse Quick. It appears Jesse is now taking on the role we expected her to take last season. Could we see Jesse Wells suit up in a costume of her own during Season 3?

That's Not All The 'Magenta' Episode Synopsis Reveals To Us.

"Magenta" also hints at Barry Allen successfully reassembling Team Flash in the Flashpoint universe. We know that Flashpoint will take place for the most part in the first half of the season. And considering how Team Flash is already back together during Episode Three, it ultimately means that Barry Allen was successful in reassembling his team in the Flashpoint universe.

That being said, Team Flash is actually assembled now that Jay Garrick/Flash of Earth-3 is also back on Earth-1. But it drives the question of what could all these speedsters be doing on Earth-1? Is there a reason for their meet-up or could some other force be responsible for them all being in one place at the same time?

Considering that several speedsters are going to make their way into season three of The Flash — Wally West becoming Kid Flash, Jesse is presumably becoming Jesse Quick, Jay Garrick/Flash of Earth-3 is back in the picture, along with Barry Allen on the same Earth — there's probably a definitive reason for them all being on the same Earth.

Will Magenta (Joey King) be the antithesis to Jesse 'Quick'?

For now, that's all we can deduce from the "Magenta" episode synopsis. Although the meta-human Magenta is expected to appear in the same episode as well, we haven't heard much of Magenta, other than that Joey King will be playing the character, which opens up the possibility of Magenta going head to head with Jesse Quick as she speeds around Earth-1, Central City for the first time. Ideally, Jesse Wells is going to spring into action when a meta-human is running amuck, so Magenta would be the ideal opposition for her in Episode Three — especially with the episode being titled "Magenta" and Wells returning in that very episode.
