No matter how many years pass or all the badass moments that occur on #HBO's juggernaut series, #GameOfThrones, fans will always stop to remember the moon of our life, Khal Drogo. The brute khal was portrayed flawlessly by #JasonMomoa for 10 episodes, and although his character has been long gone, Momoa's terrifyingly intense audition video continues to be a hot topic of discussion for viewers.

During an interview with The New York Times, Momoa reveals what prompted him to bust out a traditional Māori war dance for his Thrones audition. He states that since Drogo doesn't speak much, he had to find a way to properly convey him because "[there]'s nothing in the script." He decided the best way to convey Drogo would be through dance:

"So I said: 'I have this idea. Is it OK to do [a dance] before the audition?' And they were like, 'Oh, sure.' Then I did the Haka."

"The first time I did it, they were very scared."

Following the dance, Momoa reveals how difficult it was to continue the audition afterward and the terror the casting directors felt:

"It was challenging to do the audition afterward — I couldn’t stop my heart from beating. The first time I did it, they were very scared. But then they wanted me to come back in so they could put it on tape."

He also states having to "walk around like you're a king" in order to get into the mindset of a nomadic horse-lord and describes being quite the opposite in his own household:

"I’m not the king in my own house. I have to wash the dishes and take out the trash and say 'Yes, baby.' I’m 6-foot-5, but I kind of walk around hunched over. I’m not like, 'Hey, check me out.' But Drogo had to have that posture."

The decision to scare those casting directors silly ultimately worked in Momoa's favor because his character has become revered by legions of Thrones fans. The intense presence he conveyed will never go unnoticed and the chemistry he had with his Khaleesi portrayed by #EmiliaClarke will forever make fans swoon with emotion.
