Jason Momoa, We Love You!

Yes, I would love to hang with the 'Aquaman' star.

Jason Momoa is just super cool.  (Source)

I was first introduced to Jason Momoa through my husband.

Maybe that's not an entirely accurate statement, but hear me out. My husband used to watch Stargate: Atlantis regularly. As a result, I ended up at the very least being in the room when the show was on. I'd never really watched the TV series Stargate; I really wasn't a big fan of the original movie starring James Spader and Kurt Russell, so the thought of slogging through a series based off of the film was not one I entertained. However, my husband loves science fiction series, and so, I ultimately absorbed bits and pieces of Stargate: Atlantis through a form of osmosis.

While I didn't quite follow the basic plot of Stargate: Atlantis, I thought it seemed like a decent enough show with good humor and interesting characters. I remember when I heard this sort of bemused, low voice saying something on screen and I saw this big man with large biceps and this woman who seemed tiny next to him. I found out later that basically, the characters were good friends, but the big man was Jason Momoa and the woman was Rachel Luttrell. Even 14 years ago, Momoa was an imposing but intriguing figure; to be completely honest, I loved the sound of his voice and that's what caught my attention. There was something in his voice—a mix of "don't mess with me" and some sort of undefined good humor—that I liked.

I'm sorry to say that my next exposure to Jason Momoa was as Aquaman. It should not have taken so long for me to see Momoa again, but I never got into Game Of Thrones, due to my own personal schedule, and I don't have time to watch his current series Frontier due to the same time constraints. That said, I really enjoy watching this man on screen. Sure, he's got a fantastic body—playing a superhero no doubt entails having to hit the gym for hours at a time and you will see results whether you want to or not—but have you seen any video footage of him as a person just doing whatever it is he does?

The man is personable as anything and seems to truly love life. It would not be hard to love the perks of his life right now, I'm sure, but whether he's in a game of War with Jimmy Fallon, rock climbing or drinking beer and chucking axes, the man looks like he's having a great time. He also seems to have no issue with having some fun during an interview, playing with his hair and speaking in excited, high pitched tones.

That said, Jason Momoa also seems to have a grasp of just how far he's actually come since his early days. "The truth is we’re all searching," he said in a 2016 Men's Health interview. "We’re all looking for guidance, for mentors, and I’m by no means someone to follow.”

That may well be, but there are few who embrace life with the apparent gusto that Jason Momoa has done. I love that even though he seems to have a lot of fun doing the things he does, he's also super excited just to be a dad and like any father, adores watching his children.

“It’s beautiful," he admitted about watching his kids with wife Lisa Bonet grow up. "I want it to be the greatest thing I ever do: make good humans.”

I could be wrong, but it appears that Momoa is a 21st century Renaissance man, and there's something to be said for a guy who seems to enjoy life the way he does, who has the positive energy that he does, and who also embraces the fine art of fatherhood. I'd love to sit and have a beer with him. I'd love to have been able to go to Toronto, Ontario, Canada's FanExpo today (September 1) just to even take a picture of him.

I guess I'll have to settle for watching Aquaman in theaters December 21, 2018.
