Comic Cons around the world are amazing for fans. It gives them the opportunity to meet the people that they look up to, and have their lives touched by them — and sometimes the heroes themselves are touched in return.

Mckenzie Reese is Hawkeye's youngest fan, and she and her family were able to meet actor Jeremy Renner at a Con back in April of last year. Although she didn't smile for the camera, as the family left the photo op she gave him a bright smile.

In June she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer. She fought hard and went through treatments but got the news on March 9th that her cancer was terminal.

Her family has tried to give her as much from life as they can during this time, with a trip to Disney World and a visit with family. This weekend, though, there will be a special reunion between the little girl and her favorite Avenger. The family, who are Comic Con fanatics, are making their way to Salt Lake City for the Fanx convention they hold every spring.

Jeremy Renner can't wait either, posting on Twitter:

Organizers of Salt Lake Comic Con are looking into giving her some one-on-one time with Renner away from the crowds, since she is so ill and the crowds can be difficult. Mckenzie is a beautiful young girl and strong fighter, and reminds us that we just have to have the courage to go out there and face whatever life gives us.

There is a hero in all of us, and they both have shown us that.
