The Princess Diaries series has long fallen under the question of whether or not it would get a third movie, with "confirmation" of it being in the works coming out every few years or so. #Disney fans were ecstatic when news came last March that the franchise would be moving forward with a third installment when director Gary Marshall said

“I was with Anne Hathaway a couple weeks ago, it looks like we want to do 'Princess Diaries 3' in Manhattan. Anne Hathaway is very pregnant, so we have to wait until she has the baby and then I think we’re going to do it.”

Unfortunately, this past July we lost the legendary director and fans lost hope that they would ever get to see the third movie come to fruition. However, BuzzFeed had the opportunity to sit down with #JulieAndrews, who plays Queen Clarisse Renaldi in the series, and find out if there was any hope of another film.

“There’s talk about it, and [Hathaway]’s very keen to do it. I would very willingly and happily do it.I think we might do it in honor of him. Annie had an idea that she wanted to pursue about it, and I’m all for it, so if she’d like to….”

When asked about a reunion, Robert Schwartzman, who played Mia's love interest, Michael, has said in the past that he may be up for a reunion if the story was right. As he said to Glamour:

“I don't know how I feel about it. If they came to me and said, ‘Hey, we want you to continue the series. We did something right the first time. Let's keep going,’ I don't know. You have to take everything one step at a time. I’d have to see where they’re taking it. Like, what do you want to do with the story? What is this character now? What do you want it to be? It'd be cool to at least have the conversation about it if they want to do it.”

With so many of the key players willing to come back (or at least open to the idea), what better way to honor the director's memory than to finish the passion project he was so keen to continue with #ThePrincessDiaries3? I think it would be an amazing tribute, as well as something that the fans would be grateful to see after so many years. How about it Disney? One more trip to Genovia?
