A Movie Series Review

Okay, so I loved the Jurassic Park series, the films and the books. I have seen both Jurassic World movies like any movie fanatic would, and I have several things I would like to say. With any movie creating a 'new series' based on its original story line, there will be some problems. Now this is my own opinion on these movies, and you are completely free to disagree... but here are my thoughts.

These are LITERALLY the exact same as Jurassic Park. I know, they are not the same story line, there is no grandchildren and Hammond is not present. But the general idea is there. Someone recreates animals (Dinosaurs) and creates a park on an island dedicated to showcasing these lost creatures. Then something goes wrong, usually due to the animal, and chaos occurs. I get it, it is not the exact same, but the premise is. They recreated more dinosaurs on an island, and even began training some (Thank you Chris Pratt), but then they get boisterous and create a whole new dinosaur, to which they have no knowledge about and it gets set loose. Thus causing chaos on the island, setting more dinosaurs free and killing people left on the island. I must say, Chris Pratt is an added bonus to these movies, and he has a nice butt. (Sorry for any guys reading this, but lets not pretend you don't talk about actresses the same way.)

Another Island... really? Did we not learn from the first island? Before this movie even existed or I ever heard about it I recall telling my dad, 'If anyone actually created that type of park it would be cool to go, but I will not go! With our luck they will get loose and we will die, so no, never!' (Yes how optimistic of me to think I would die, but hey.. have you seen the movies?) In the first Jurassic Park, the dinosaurs are let out and raptors, among other dinosaurs attack the people on the island. Then in the second movie, a girl is attacked at another location (I believe a different beach/island) where they find out there are more dinosaurs. There are two groups sent to this island, one where they are going to bring back the dinosaurs to mainland with people... sound familiar? In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom they send out a team to retrieve dinosaurs to bring back to the mainland. Jurassic Park III is just a movie where they had the chance to make another movie and so they did. A kid gets stranded there and he is getting saved by Dr. Grant from the original movie, where they must escape the dinosaurs. I have no doubt Jurassic World III will have the same idea.

Another point I would like to add is why are we letting the same guy recreate dinosaurs! I get it, he wants to make money and by creating dinosaurs he makes a lot! But still, did you not learn dude? Then in Jurassic World II we are just letting him do it again? He's like 'sure let me recreate new dinosaurs because that worked out so well the last time'. Hopefully in the third movie he will stop! If he is still making them and I see this guy I may just leave the theatre right then and there.

Personally I think we should just end Jurassic World II as the end of this series. It was a good ending, the dinosaurs are free and are roaming the earth again. The humans, now left to deal with our consequences have to suffer and learn to live with these creatures. It was ultimately our mistake so if we are going to die, we are going to die.

Overall Jurassic World is not a bad series, but I prefer the roots of the original. Whilst I love Chris Pratt he is the only character the resonates with me—while in Jurassic Park I like them all. When I first saw Jurassic World, I felt like Clare was representing too much of a Hammond figure. They dressed her in complete white, just like Hammond, so at first I thought maybe it was his granddaughter or someone related to him. So this was already a disappointment. I wanted more connection to the previous series rather than a few clips of a tech guy wearing a Jurassic Park shirt or the Jeep. Also can we discuss how the tech guy was then asked if wearing the shirt was in poor taste? And they respond to how people died...? I'm sorry you literally changed the word from 'Park' to 'World' and are doing the exact same thing, where I would also like to add... people died! I don't know if this bothered anyone else but it really irritated me.

Furthermore Jurassic World continued to discuss Clare's sister getting a divorce. This was never anything crucial in the movie, we just knew that they wanted the kids to have a good time and forget about what was going on. It felt unnecessary for me, a sort of filler for the movie to add more depth and emotion, but I felt as though that was ultimately lost in translation. One character that did not get lost or feel unnecessary to me was the cameo of Jeff Goldblum. When I first saw the trailer for Jurassic World II I was terrified he was going to say they should set the dinosaurs free. This was yet another time where if he said they should be free I was going to leave the movie. He did so great with his speech, I felt as though he portrayed the entire series and the message of it and why it should NOT continue ! But no, here I am, explaining why Jurassic World is a crappy version of Jurassic Park and they should stop creating movies.

This is my opinion, I know many will agree and disagree and that is okay with me :)
