Just As We Suspected, 'Game Of Thrones' Battles Are Even Better When You Add Lightsabers

The 'Game of Thrones' and 'Star Wars' franchises are a match made in heaven.

Game of Thrones and Star Wars are both known for their fan-favorite characters, an incredible attention to detail and expansive world-building. With that, it's surprising that there aren't more fan-made crossovers between the two. Although the franchises share a number of actors (Gwendoline Christie, Julian Glover and Max von Sydow to name a few), fans of the Seven Kingdoms and the galaxy far, far away now have even more reason to crossover thanks to video editors that have lovingly given our favorite Westerosi characters their own lightsabers.

In Season 7 of Game of Thrones, we bore witness to the fighting prowess of Arya Stark as she sparred with Brienne, and both women seemed to enjoy the fact that they were on equal footing. Yet, after YouTuber Omid G. made a few edits, we now have an idea of how the talented pair would handle a Jedi blade.

Although the immediate appeal will be obvious to Thrones fans and Star Wars enthusiasts alike, it's the details that really make this video a treat to watch. Arya shows up with a purple lightsaber that is reminiscent of Mace Windu's famous weapon. As one of the most powerful characters in the galaxy, it's great to see the Stark assassin taking on Mace's mantle.

However, this is just the latest crossover to add lightsabers to a Game of Thrones duel. In fact, you can find just about any major battle within the Seven Kingdoms with a similar edit.

'Star Wars' Combined With 'Game Of Thrones' Brings Balance To The Universe

As incredible as the sparring match between Arya and Brienne was when it was revealed this season, the addition of lightsabers only makes the sequence that much better. Thankfully, Omid G. also armed the King in the North with the same enhancements.

Much like Arya's purple saber, you'll notice that Jon Snow wields the classic blue lightsaber while Smalljon Umber arms himself with a Sith-like weapon. A similar contrast can be seen with a fan-made lightsaber battle between Jaime Lannister and the honorable Eddard Stark.

There have been several other major duels/battles that have received the Star Wars treatment over the years. Here are some of the best:

The Mountain Vs. Oberyn Martell

Bronn Vs. Ser Valdys of House Arryn

The Hound & Arya Stark Vs. The Lannisters

Eddard Stark Vs. Arthur Dayne

With each crossover, it becomes increasingly clear that these two franchises are a match made in heaven. If fans are lucky, the remaining episodes of Season 7 and Game of Throne's final season will give us plenty of opportunities to experience Jedi-inspired crossovers.
