Getting to see Spider-Man: Homecoming at an advance screening with die hard superhero fans and with adults decked out in any related superhero clothing, really made the movie even that much better. You knew you were seeing the film surrounded by people who were actually very invested in the film franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as conversations of which Spider-Man film was better and who is the better Marvel hero took place before the film started.

After watching all of the different versions of Spider-Man films that Sony has pushed out in the last decade has really shown how different an interpretation of the hero of Spider-Man can be depending on which Spider-Man comic you base the film off of. I really enjoyed the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films as I thought he did a really good job playing the nerd who suddenly got super powers overnight. So after watching so many Spider-Man films I honestly didn't think I was going to enjoy this film so much but I totally did!

Spider-Man: Homecoming was an installment for Spider-Man to fit into the MCU so that they could get a chance to plug him into the rest of the Marvel films and give a glance at what is also going on with some of the other #Avengers (as Tony Stark is a recurring face within this film). Also we've already seen a glimpse of Tom Holland's Spider-Man in Captain America's Civil War where he lends a humorous helping hand in some of the battle scenes. So just from that glimpse I knew going into this film that they were going to make Spider-Man: Homecoming a very comedic film. Not saying that it didn't have it's serious moments from time to time, but it did rely heavily on the humorous side of things.

The film itself starts off where Civil War kind of left off with Spider-Man but we get to take a look at some of that battle from Peter's point of view, which I have to say was pretty great to watch. We then get to see how Tony Stark is some what mentoring Peter to be a better hero while also leaving Peter with the hope that he will be getting a call to get put to work on more heroic missions. Unbeknownst to Peter, Tony's promise of upcoming missions was more of a lie as Tony still views Peter as a child and is not ready to take on bigger responsibilities. Peter then gets involved in a illegal alien weapons selling business that is happening in his city where the level of responsibility is taken to new heights when Peter realizes people could be getting killed under his watch.

The main villain in this film is seen as The Vulture who is man who looses work due to the rich and powerful taking over the jobs that would be making him money. So he begins to use the leftover alien technology from the New York battle that he obtained to start creating weapons to sell under the radar. He isn't seen as that bad of a guy as he is really only doing this to help his family out financially but it then becomes more of an issue when he kills one of his men and threatens and almost kills Peter during the final battle scene.

It was definitely very cool to get to see more of a background on the villain of the film and his reasoning to doing the evil things he does. It gave the film a bit more depth as it is seen as a family friendly film. This also resonated with Peter as he realizes towards the end of the film, after the big battle and realizing how good people can do bad things to keep their families afloat, that he is still only a child and would like to be the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" for while longer before he officially joins the Avenger crew.

Overall I think this is a film to not necessarily see in theaters but I would definitely recommend you watch if you are into the MCU and/or a big fan of Spider-Man. It wasn't as serious compared to the last couple of Marvel films we have seen like Doctor Strange and Civil War, even though it did have its serious moments. So if you are looking for a film to see this summer, I would say to give this one a go as it was a very fun time watching this film, as every Marvel film is.
