‘Justice League’: Movie Review

The performance didn’t bode well, but Superman is still number one in heart! #getoutloislane

Currently I am watching the newest installment of DC comics, the Justice League. I know really late. My brother said it is better than all the Marvel movies and the rest of the DC films. That was not the case.

When watching this movie I went in with high expectations. Which is unfortunate because I went into Thor: Ragnorak and Jumanji with no expectations and they were the best movies I've seen this year. So I guess that correlates into, I must have no expectations going into movies, ever.

Back to the review. I think that DC movies are getting better. They still have a lot to learn from Marvel. Marvel started off slow introducing every character and then slowly combining the characters. They really got into their character development. Even though some of the movies flopped, they have still managed to come out on top. Justice League didn’t do a good job of that. Superman and Batman were introduced fairly. And then Batman was changed to Ben Affleck, who I still think was a terrible decision, but that change I think angered fans and made them not like what was happening in the DC Universe.

Having to introduce characters and have that create most of the time in the movie was not a good move. I don’t think comparing the universes is smart because they’re totally different, but with them being superhero franchises they have comparable features.

There was also a lot with CGI. The villain and his cohorts are all CGI and so is Superman’s upper lip. I mean why? He looked stupid the whole movie and I love him. He is literally my celebrity crush! But other than that I really enjoyed what they were going after because it reminded me of the Marvel Infinity Stones, which is a very creative story arc.

This movie doesn’t really do much for the DC Universe. I’ve never read the comics, but I did watch the shows when I was a little tike and they are always having aliens attack. They build up their team to more superheroes and create a huge universe.

The world is becoming bigger in the television realm. Which is great when the Marvel Universe is killing it in both. But they aren’t putting major players in television shows. They are putting in minor characters that can make it work and could even transfer into the movie realm.

The characters I wish I would’ve seen movies beforehand would be Aquaman, Flash, and the Cyborg guy. I’ve never even seen the Cyborg honestly, was he in the cartoons? Am I an idiot and is this review terrible? Probably, but who wanted to see these movies beforehand like in the Marvel Universe? Yeah, Flash has a television show, but the movies are what everyone sees.

Aquaman is also getting his own movie coming out this new year. And if you watched Game of Thrones then you already like Jason Momoa and are hopefully super excited for this movie. I just wish we would see this movie beforehand like all the rest of the characters!

Overall I would give this movie a 6/10. It still had good action, the resurrection of Superman, a formidable foe, and a bunch of amazingly powerful Amazon women. But it also had its downfall with horrible the CGI of the villain, Henry Cavill’s upper lip, the outfits the Amazon women wore, and trying to be humorous. But keep it up DC, this is just the beginning for you and you might be better in the future, we just have to see and wait!
