Today's round of amazing fanart is thanks to incredible digital artist Justin Currie and his alternate versions of well-known characters. I was blown away by the attention to detail, and how he manages keep the look, feel, and spirit of the original designs while giving each piece his own definite interpretation and flair.
I first came across his outstanding superhero robot collection on tumblr, but you can check out the art directly at Currie's official DeviantART page for even more amazing fanart - I'm really digging the Final Fantasy robot series. (The images are still small there, but you can download them with a much higher resolution - looks like they'd make great wallpaper.) Enjoy!

The Pearl by John Steinbeck
‘The Pearl’ is a well-known by under-read classic and, as a teacher, many of my students have absolutely loved it. Not just because it is short, but because it presents a storyline that is interesting and corrupting. Easy to read and easier to analyse, ‘The Pearl’ is one of Steinbeck’s hardest hitting classics with an underlying message about protecting what is actually important. By the end of the book, the reader is left defeated and believing in the wrong thing. The idealism around this book is incredible and it is so dark too. For a long while you are supporting the wrong people, thinking in the wrong way and the whole story becomes one long act of misdirection by Steinbeck to show in a ‘Monkey’s Paw’ fashion why we should never chase wealth and status.

Palm Royale's 4th episode - "Maxine Rolls the Dice"
The episode starts with a flashback to a 1949 event at the Dellacorte mansion with an audio of Maxine saying everyone has money but not everyone is truly rich. Maxine knows the importance of secrets but for her marriage, she's willing to tell him. She wants to tell him about her financial whims and his disinheritance but the strength of this stance dissolves. Unaware that Norma can hear her, Evelyn visits her to search for the key. Realizing this, she hugs her and says she misses her before asking about the key. Despite her search and their communication through eye blinking, she is unsuccessful.
