Look Out, 'Supernatural' Fans; Jensen Ackles Has Some News For You

He's finally going to play a character other than Dean! Who could it be?

After 13 seasons of seeing Jared Padalecki take on the role of not only Sam Winchester, but also Lucifer, Gadreel, and even a creepy soul-less version of himself, it looks like Jensen Ackles has been given the go-ahead to do the same thing on Supernatural.

In a recent interview with EW, Ackles gave Supernatural fans some news they could chew on.

"Over the years I’ve only ever had to just play Dean, whereas Jared has had to be Lucifer and Gadreel and all these different actual characters other than Sam. Dean never had to do that. He’s only been Dean."

Ackles reminds fans of quite possibly the worst and best moment in The History of Dean, when he became a freaking demon. But he lets his fans know that there's something big coming down the mountain.

"The biggest stretch was Demon Dean but it was still Dean, it was just the demon version of himself, which I always love because it makes my job easier — I can just play the character I know. That is all going to change soon. Something big’s coming.”

Well, hell yeah!

So now the question is, who in hell or heaven is he going to play? Here are some possibilities, ranging from pretty obvious to stretchier than the premise behind next week's Scooby Doo/Supernatural crossover episode.

Archangel Michael

Many many seasons ago, Dean was faced with a choice: become Michael's skin suit or get his butt kicked. He chose the latter, and his half brother Adam was possessed by the archangel instead. Adam/Michael have been missing ever since, but with the latest revelation that Michael 2.0 is alive on Earth 2.0, Earth 1.0 might need one hell of a good fighter. Dean might be called upon yet again to take up his wings as the new Michael 1.0 and stop Michael 2.0 from conquering Earth 1.0.

That was a lot of numbers...sorry.

If not Michael, then who? Could it be The One and The Only?

Jesus

Keep the fingers crossed

So far, the Supernatural production team hasn't touched this with a ten foot pole. The only time Jesus has been mentioned on the show, really, is in jokes and when pagan gods are mad at him for showing up and ruining their fun 2,000 years ago.

This one is a big, BIG stretch, but Supernatural hasn't shied away from big stretches. Another big stretch? The Big Daddy himself.

God

Dean hasn't been shy about how he feels about Chuck, AKAa God, exclaiming several times (sometimes per episode) that God doesn't care about humans or the planet, that He's a deadbeat dad, that He's not going to listen to your prayers, etc. I would bet my angel wings, if I had 'em, that Chuck IS listening, and he might go all Bruce Almighty on Dean if the Winchester boy isn't too careful. If he doesn't stop complaining, Dean could wake up next to some gorgeous woman, and tell her the sex wasn't all that great.

Oooops...wrong Jim Carrey movie.

Now that we've covered all the guys from upstairs, what if, just what if Dean were to play someone a little more evil? Think Deanmon, only MUCH worse.

Lucifer

Mr. Padalecki played Lucifer, but beat his metaphysical ass in the Season 5 finale, "Swan Song." Fast forward eight seasons, and Lucifer has had a tough go. Earth 2.0 angels have drained his mojo, he has a super-powerful son running loose on Earth 1.0, and, well, things just haven't been going so great.

Being possessed by Satan himself would definitely allow Jensen to flex the ole evil acting chops again, like he did with Demon Dean. And, I suspect, it would throw his fangirls into a even bigger frenzy than they're in every Thursday night. And rightfully so...Dean with the mark of Cain was an absolute bone-sword swinging badass, so Devil Dean would kill it! Literally.

Dibs on Deanvil!

What if he doesn't play the devil? What if he finally has to pay for what he did in Season 10, when he killed Death?

Death

Remember back in Season 10 when Dean did this?

Right now, Billie the Reaper has been resurrected as Death. But like all characters in Supernatural (except Dean and Sam, of course), her end could come at any time. With how Dean put it in his interview, that something big is coming, Dean as head honcho reaper of souls would be pretty damn insane.

That's all I got, folks. Shout at me on Twitter, where I'd love to do some Supernatural geeking out!
