#LouisCK is set to join the likes of #ChrisRock and #DaveChappelle as another comedian who will be debuting their highly-anticipated standups on #Netflix. The actor/comedian has officially inked a deal to debut two new comedy stand-up specials exclusively with the streaming outlet.

The first of his specials, titled 2017, was filmed in Washington D.C. and will premiere April 4th, 2017 globally on Netflix. The second special has not received a release date yet.

The comedian is a busy man these days.

In addition to these specials, Louis will also serve as one of the main voice actors and executive producers on the upcoming TBS animated comedy, #TheCops which he co-created with actor Al Brooks. He also serves as an executive producer on Tig Notaro’s #Amazon comedy, One Mississippi and the #FX comedies, Baskets and Better Things.

For fans of his breakout FX series, #Louie, who are waiting for an announcement about when a new season will be released, you will unfortunately have to wait a little longer as we're not likely to see any new episodes of the comedy series anytime soon.

Louis Is No Stranger To The Streaming World

Louis released his comedy special, "Live From The Beacon Theater" exclusively on his own website for $5 back in 2011 and had a quick message for those who wished to torrent the special:

"... I can't stop you from torrenting; all I can do is politely ask you to pay your five little dollars, enjoy the show, and let other people find it in the same way."

2017 will be the first to debut as a Netflix Original.

Several of his other standup specials have been available on Netflix for years; however 2017 will be the first to debut as a Netflix Original. His latest series, #HoraceandPete was distributed solely through his website. Shortly after its first run, #Hulu picked up the syndicated streaming rights.

So for those studio execs who feel traditional networks are still the best outlets for great shows, successes like these are the ultimate:

Netflix's Upcoming Slate Of Standup Specials

In addition to having Louis on board, the streaming powerhouse has also locked up Chris Rock's next two specials for a healthy $40 million and Dave Chappelle will debut three standup specials following a 12 year hiatus.

#AmySchumer's latest special, The Leather Special, will be released on March 7th, 2017 and #JimNorton's Mouthful Of Shame will hit the streaming service a week later.

#TracyMorgan's Staying Alive is expected on May 16th and the untitled #SarahSilverman standup comedy special is scheduled for May 30th.

Comedic legend #JerrySeinfeld's web series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee is leaving Crackle and joining the Netflix family for 24 new episodes debuting later this year as well.

"Louis has been one of the most innovative comedy voices in this new era of stand up."

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos lauded Louis's comedic genius and expressed his excitement at the news:

"Louis has been one of the most innovative comedy voices in this new era of stand up. He has also been a thought leader in the business of comedy. We have marveled at his creativity and his ability to invent comedically and commercially, and are thrilled that he is bringing his newest specials to Netflix."

What do you think about the news? Do you have a favorite Louis CK standup special?
