The gauntlets are off as the MCU prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary with next year's Avengers: Infinity War. As the culmination of 22 films and the highest-grossing franchise in cinematic history, the next Avengers film promises to be the biggest superhero film ever to grace our screens. With new partners, old flames, and the who's who of Marvel comics, we are slowly piecing together the pieces of the puzzle.

Coming off the back of the spoiler-filled D23 footage, a new image drops some huge spoilers on what to expect during #InfinityWar. As the good and the bad of the #MCU come together in the next two installments of the Avengers series, we have already seen the likes of Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy crossing paths. However, the latest set photo reveals an unlikely pairing and a budding bromance.

The Doctor will see you now.

Courtesy of the Reddit forum, r/marvelstudios, there is plenty to take away from the picture. It is clearly a very rough CGI cut, but we can see #BenedictCumberbatch's Doctor Strange and #TomHolland's Spider-Man sharing some screen time. Interestingly, the pairing of Stephen Strange and Peter Parker during Infinity War could easily lead into a "Strange" cameo for the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. Given that Doctor Strange and Spider-Man are the only two MCU heroes currently residing in New York, it would make sense that the boys from the block will enter Infinity War together. We also see a spoilerific look at #SpiderMan sporting his Avengers suit that was teased at the end of Homecoming, however, it is the dialogue that is the most interesting.

The magical master warns our wall-crawling teen and the outlook sounds pretty grim:

“Peter! Protect them. They’re not dead.”

Whatever leads to this exchange is unknown, but we can assume that it probably comes after a big battle scene. While some of the Avengers may have fallen, could it actually be Thanos using the Infinity Stones to mess with Peter while Strange uses his astral projection to try and ground the hero? If Thanos is screwing with Spidey, the rest of the images also start to make sense.

Back From The Dead

Aside from new alliances, eagle-eyed superhero fans have also spotted the possible return of #AaronTaylorJohnson as Quicksilver. If you remember, Quicksilver was one of the few big #MCU casualties and lost his life back in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Taylor-Johnson isn't confirmed as part of the huge Infinity War cast, so this could be one hell of a spoiler for where the film is going. We don't expect that Quicksilver will actually be back from the dead, but his return could be to do with Thanos's evil plan. If the Mad Titan is using the Infinity Stones to confuse our heroes, Quicksilver could just be a vision sent to torment Scarlet Witch.

Speaking of which, note that the bottom left-hand corner appears to show #ElizabethOlsen's Scarlet Witch trapped under a pile of rubble. Various sources and interviews have teased that Infinity War could be a last rodeo for some of our supes, but it is unlikely that a moment as big as Scarlet Witch's death would be so casually spoiled like this.

Reddit may be notorious for citing unconfirmed sources, but note that the name above the monitor says Jesse Olivares. Doing a little research, Olivares has worked on several MCU projects and is currently a key video assist engineer on Infinity War. We still don't know who leaked the image, but expect them to feel the wrath of the Russo brothers. With the Infinity War cast expected for a huge panel at San Diego Comic-Con, prepare for a whole galaxy of stars and spoilers during the comic book event of the year.
