Well, it seems as though Iron Fist is cruising along now. The rumor that the Netflix original would be cancelled in favor of a movie was quickly squashed as Marvel announced that Scott Buck would serve as showrunner and executive producer.

It seemed as though for months, Marvel just couldn't quite figure out how to incorporate all the mystical elements that an Iron Fist story would need. Insiders fed us rumors about the overall problems that the studio was having, and that there could be conflict with Marvel's film plans. Yet, our hope remains intact as it seems that whatever was holding Marvel up has been worked out because Iron Fist is on its way as a full season with an official plot synopsis.

You may be saying we know all that already, give us something new. Well then my friends, you're in for a treat because thanks to the team at That Hashtag Show has brought to our attention a few characters who are currently on active casting calls. Let's take a look at who's out there:

The first character being cast is Dylan Kendall.

25-28 years old, Handsome and sophisticated, independent and a loner. SERIES REGULAR.

Most people assume that this character is simply a place holder for Danny Rand (Iron Fist). Marvel doesn't specify an ethnicity so if it is Danny Rand the studio may be casting a wide net and possibly altering the race of the main character, which isn't out of the question considering Marvel's history with gender and race changes seeing as The Ancient One was just genderbent for the upcoming Marvel's Doctor Strange.

The second character on open call is Harry Marshall.

45-50 years old, Caucasian, highly intelligent, merciless, confident and arrogant, physically active. SERIES REGULAR.

This could be a few characters, but Harold Meachum is the most common guess. Harold is the man who betrayed the Rand family, killing Wendell (Danny's dad) on a mountain pass and indirectly leads to Danny coming to K'un Lun. Meachum loses his legs to the cold and eventually returns to the United States to take control of Rand Corporation which he co-owned with Wendell. Another possibility would be the Steel Serpent. Steel Serpent is a villain who steals the power of the Iron Fist from Danny until it overwhelms him and consumes him. Steel Serpent is a regular villain of Iron Fist as he was a banished K'un Lun warrior who believed that wielding the power of Iron Fist was his destiny.

Confirmed character to return is Jeri Hogarth.

We also now know that Carrie-Anne Moss is set to return to the Marvel Universe and comic readers around the world are celebrating because Hogarth is actually a main character in the Iron Fist comics as he (originally created as a male character) was a friend and colleague of Danny Rand's father. Hogarth's role in the comic series is prevalent as a business partner and executor of Wendell's estate upon his death. Hogarth is an ally to Iron Fist as well as Luke Cage during their Heroes for Hire days.

Casting overall should be exquisite as we know that both Laray Mayfield and Julie Schubert are re-teaming for Marvel & Netflix to collect the actors for Iron Fist. Mayfield and Schubert are both Emmy Award Winners and have worked together on casting Season 1 of Daredevil as well as House of Cards. If these shows tell us anything, it's that we are in for a great cast of characters. I'm excited to see what they create.

Iron Fist is set to start shooting in New York next year with a potential air date in early 2017. Stay tuned for more details as they break!
