Prepare for the 77th Hungry for Money Games as Hollywood once again milks its movies for all they're worth. Katniss Everdeen could be ready to pull back her bow once more, and Edward Cullen is most certainly practicing his best eyebrow scowl, while Lionsgate moves forward to continue its two most profitable franchises.

Sure, the movie studio may have ridden the crest of the Saw and Expendables franchises, but all of that is paler than Robert Pattinson's vampire complexion in comparison to owning the rights to #TheHungerGames and #Twilight movies. Spinning #SuzanneCollins and #StephanieMeyer's books into cinematic gold, the studio pretty much had a license to print money. So, what do you do when the books stop and the money dries up? Well, if it 2017, those dollar signs are already ringing.

Hungry For More

Variety reports that Lionsgate is very serious about fresh installments and spin-offs for both The Hunger Games and Twilight, meaning some serious work but also some serious rewards. While speaking in a quarterly earning call, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer claimed that they are far from done with either property just yet:

“There are a lot more stories to be told, and we’re ready to tell them when our creators are ready to tell those stories.”

With each being a veritable cash cow, you have to find yourself saying "duh" to this one. Given that Twilight ended in 2012 and The Hunger Games in 2015, I'm actually surprised it has taken the execs this long to reveal the world's most simple plan.

While it sounds like victors and vamps alike will return to our screens at some point, bear in mind that there could still be a bit of a wait on our hands. Whether Collins and Meyer are quite on the same page as Lionsgate remains to be seen, but prepare for a Woody Harrelson spin-off where Haymitch tries to get sober.

If you look over at the Harry Potter franchise, both Warner Bros. and author J.K. Rowling found a second wind with the release of 2016's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. With a whole new franchise only just beginning, W.B. and Rowling look set to rake in the moolah and Lionsgate presumably wants to follow suit.

Importantly, it shows that the studio plans on doing something with both franchises, which will have to happen before the rights expire and go up for grabs for anyone. However, making a film just so someone else can't get their hands on it can be a messy affair, especially if Josh Trank's Fant4stic is anything to go by.

With Lionsgate reportedly trying to get a John Wick universe off the ground, it would arguably be easier to reign back the YA audience and continue the success of its blockbuster, bank-breaking, entities like The Hunger Games and Twilight. Let's just hope that whatever continuation/reboot/remake we end up with doesn't suck the life out of either series just like Myer's horny vamps.
