Music To Our Ears: Could John Carpenter Score The New 'Halloween' Film?
Director-cum-musician John Carpenter could be returning to Halloween to tinkle the ivories, nearly 38 after its original release.
Music, maestro, please - that's right, the man responsible to bringing the rubber-faced Michael Myers to our screens, has just peaked his involvement in the long-mooted Halloween franchise reboot. Director-cum-musician John Carpenter could be returning to Halloween to tinkle the ivories, nearly 38 after its original release.
Performing with his band at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival, Carpenter told ScreenDaily "Maybe I'll do the music". After providing the score for the original film and previously only signing on as an Executive Producer to the film, Carpenter could once again return for Michael's iconic theme tune. Known for cult horrors like The Fog and The Thing, Carpenter's last film was 2010's The Ward, preceded by 2001's The Ghosts of Mars. So, having taken somewhat of a long hiatus from filmmaking, is it time for the monster-music-maker to come home to one of his greatest works? Whilst performing his "Lost Themes" album of his film's music to a sell-out crowd, the 68-year-old admitted to ScreenDaily that his current passion was his music, after being "burned out" by his filmmaking experiences:
I had to stop. I had no life. It (filmmaking) is so stressful.
The Miramax and Blumhouse Productions project is still set for an unknown release date, with Michael last appearing on our screens in Rob Zombie's maligned Halloween II in 2009. As the father of the franchise, Carpenter has categorically rejected directing the tenth Halloween film, but the prospect of him returning with his creepy piano is an opportunity too tempting to pass up on! Now all we need is a Jamie Lee Curtis cameo and we are good to go!

The iconic Mel Blanc once said that he enjoyed voicing Sylvester, one of his favorite characters. 9-1-1
Season 1 of 9-1-1 is shaky at best. The show had no structure, no sense of organization, the character development was shoddy and none of the relationships were built up properly. Season 2 jumps right in and honestly the first episode of season 2 is about 1000X better then anything that was produced in season 1.
