Movie Pilot's newest contest:

The ChallengeOur universe is facing a threat the likes of which has never been seen before. The 'powers that be' have released little information, but we know our world is in jeopardy and we must defend it with our lives! Your mission: Put together a fantasy team of your favorite fictional characters and film personalities from any fandom (movies, games or TV shows) or cinematic universe. Create your own team name, choose 1 team captain and 3 'draft picks' to make up your dream team.

I'll attempt to do just that. Here goes.

Team Captain: Professor Charles Xavier

Charles Xavier is a mutant who possesses incredible psionic powers, making him one of the world's most powerful telepaths. With the ability to read minds, project his own thoughts into the minds of others, psionically manipulate the minds of others, induce temporary mental and/or physical paralysis, loss of particular memories or even total amnesia, project powerful mental bolts of psionic energy (stunning the mind of another being into unconsciousness), and sense the presence of other superhuman mutants, Professor X is arguably one of the greatest and most powerful leaders in any comic universe.

Not only is he a powerful individual, he is incredibly intelligent, having entered college at age 16 and earning his bachelor's degree in biology within two years, then going onto to earn Master's degrees in genetics and biophysics, a Ph.D. in anthropology, and a M.D. in psychiatry... not to mention having years of study in genetic mutation, creating and leading the X-men. Professor X is a bad-ass. I mean, he'd have to be to get Sir Patrick Stuart to portrait him for years.

Am I right, or am I right?

1st Round Pick: Batman/Bruce Wayne

I don't think this one needs much of an explanation, but I'll give you a few facts about Batman that makes him a must-have member of my team. Batman has no inherent superhuman powers; he relies on his own scientific knowledge, detective skills, and athletic prowess. He is repeatedly described as having a genius-level intellect, one of the greatest martial artists in the DC Universe, and having peak human physical conditioning... need I go on?

2nd Round Pick: Squirrel Girl/Doreen Green

Surprised, aren't you? Well don't be. Her powers include enhanced strength, speed, agility, and reflexes; small claws and enlarged incisors; retractable knuckle spike; semi-prehensile tail; empathic bond with squirrels, like Monkey Joe and Tippy Toe, can communicate with squirrels... still not convinced she's a real threat? Here's my two biggest arguments for having her on my team:

1.) Squirrel army. If I can only have 4 people on my team, you better know one of those will bring along an army of Sciuridae.

2.) She single-handedly defeated Doctor Doom (overwhelming him with the squirrels under her control). Single-handedly!

3rd Round Pick: Yoda

"Size matters not."

Yoda was one of the most renowned and powerful Jedi Masters in galactic history. He was known for his legendary wisdom, mastery of the Force and skills in lightsaber combat. Another no-brainier.

I'd love to see how another team does against this army of justice.
