When I start talking about Fairy Tail the anime, people usually think that I'm talking about a fairy tale like Red Riding Hood or The Little Mermaid. However, this review isn't on fairy tales that our parents read to us for bedtime stories. This is actually my review on Fairy Tail and what it's about, why I like it, and why I recommend it to people who are just getting into anime. So here we go.

Fairy Tail is an anime that has been going on for a couple of years. It was created by Hiro Mashima who also created the Rave Master series. How did he come up with the idea for Fairy Tail you ask? Well, he based the series on his life. While sitting in bars and partying with friends, he always thought that it would be cool if they were wizards or magicians. So he thought about creating a series based on magic and wizards. While thinking about how to create the characters, he thought more about himself. The father-son relationship between Igneel and Natsu was based off of him and his dad who passed away when he was little. He also based Natsu's motion sickness off of one of his friends who always got sick when riding a taxi. While thinking of a name for Natsu, he thought that no one would know any western fantasy names. So instead he went with Natsu , which is the Japanese name for summer. The first volume of the series was released in Japan on December 15th, 2006 while the very first episode of the series aired October 12th, 2009 and ended March 26th 2016. The TV series consists of 277 episodes with Fairy Tail Zero being the last season. The manga has just recently ended with volume 63 being the last volume. However, he announced to the readers that he will be working on another story about the next generation of Fairy Tail. He has also stated that there will be one last season for the series that will air in 2018.

Now to tell you what Fairy Tail is all about.

The Fairy Tail series takes place in the kingdom of Fiore, in the town of Magnolia. Magnolia is a place filled with magic. People use it in their daily lives, whether it's for their family or for their job. There are also stores that sell magic items for people or wizards. However, there are also those who devote their life to magic. They are the wizards which are usually found in guilds. Guilds are organizations where wizards come together and give each other information for a certain job or about other guilds. To be a full fledged wizard, you need to be a part of a guild. Once you are part of a guild, you can take on jobs, either in a team or just solo. There are, however, dark guilds which are guilds that don't listen to the law and take on very dangerous jobs. These jobs consist of defeating very dangerous or deadly monsters. Some of their jobs that are requested are even for killing a person or multiple people.

In the town of Magnolia, you will find several guilds, but there is one that that the people look up to. That guild is Fairy Tail. Home to several wizards, this guild is one big happy family. They may get into fights once and a while and destroy the inside of the guild, but in the end they always have fun doing it. In the guild you have the master, the S-Class wizards, and the wizards.

The guild itself is run by the third master, Makorov Dreyer. To some people he may look like a short, old man. But he is very powerful. He was given the title of third master by his mentor and the second master, Precht Gaebolg. The first master who started it all was none other than the sweet Mavis Vermillion.

The S-Class wizards are stronger than other wizards. Fairy Tail only has 5 S-Class wizards while some guilds may have more or less. In this category you have Laxus Dreyer who is the grandson of the master, the mysterious Mystogen, the sweet Mirajane Strauss, the clumsy yet powerful Gildarts, and the Queen of Fairies Erza "Titania" Scarlet.

Even though there are many wizards in the guild, a lot of them are in groups. There is one that is considered to be the strongest in Fairy Tail. They are known as Team Natsu. Team Natsu has the fire dragon slayer Natsu Dragneel and his flying blue cat Happy, the celestial wizard Lucy Heartfilia, the ice mage Gray Fullbuster, and the Queen of Fairies Erza Scarlet.

The Fairy Tail guild goes through so much in the series. To getting their guild destroyed (a few times) and then having to rebuild to battling many enemies, this is one of the strongest guilds in the kingdom of Fiore. No matter what happens to the guild, the kingdom still thought of them as the strongest.

I like this series because not only does it like to play with the watcher's emotions, it also shows the courage that the members show. Every member in the guild fights for who/what they love, they treat each other like a family whether they are related by blood or not, they share each others' tears, laughter, anger, happiness, but most importantly they always protect each other. With all of the hardships and the obstacles thrown in their way, they always got up again, never gave up, and fought until the enemy was beat. Because that's what it means to be in Fairy Tail. That's what I love most of all about the series.

I recommend this series to anime lovers who have never seen it because of those reasons. Filled with magic, laughter, sadness, anger, and a lot of fighting, this series is and always will be #1 on my list. Though it is a long series, it's definitely worth watching and I highly recommend it to those who have not seen it. You won't be disappointed in it. Trust me.
