My Review of 'Kimmy Schmidt' - Part 2 of Season 4

At long last, the second half of season four of 'Kimmy Schmidt' came out. Was it worth the wait?

The last six episodes of Kimmy Schmidt have finally come out. I was wondering why this was taking so long, but as you've probably found out already, this is the last season of Kimmy Schmidt. I didn't even know this when I was watching it, so when the last episode aired, I kind of freaked out.

So, for all of you that have been keeping up with Kimmy Schmidt, you already know she's one of the mole women that escaped the clutches of Richard Wayne. It's taken her four seasons to acclimate herself into today's modern world. This final season she's gotten used to our crazy society, but still has her crazy kooky self. She's still making tons of 90s references and still somewhat wears the same color schemes of what a 90s kid would want to wear.

I loved how as the seasons progressed, the series started to become crazier and crazier. This season seemed as though there were no rules and no bounds that they wouldn't cross. They even go so far as to tell the story in a different dimension in this last season. The jokes are as funny as ever, and I'm glad to say that the series hasn't lost its sharp wit. There is one drawback about the wittiness of the series, you really have to pay attention when you're watching the show. A few of the jokes can fly by you without notice in a matter of minutes. This last season, just like the other seasons, is loaded with jokes that fly at you a mile a minute. I guess you can argue that this only helps the replay value of the series. It can be somewhat overwhelming at some points. It's tons of fun, but you need to be really engaged to catch everything the first time.

The characters are lovable and crazy as usual. There are consistent personalities for all of the characters of the show. None of them have really changed over the years, and that's somewhat of a surprise because usually by the fourth season a lot of characters from various TV shows see a change in personality. I don't see too much change in these characters.

I'm saddened that this was the final season for Kimmy Schmidt. Usually, when a series makes it this far, they really amp it up and really pick up momentum from the fourth season. I understand why they did it though. This series is supposed to be about Kimmy Schmidt and how she's integrated into society with her group of friends. This had already been pretty much been established by the end of season three. She's no longer the fish out of the pond anymore, even though she still has her naivety and positive outlook in life still in tact. I started to think about how the series would continue if there was a fifth season, and I couldn't see how it would be that interesting. Maybe it's because they closed up all of the loose ends on the last episode. I still don't think there would be enough material to keep the series as fresh and original as it has been for the last four seasons. Stories would be regurgitated and it would feel like just another play by numbers sitcom.

Overall, I really liked what they did with the final half of season four. The last half was as funny as ever and brings closure to the series. I would give this last half of season four an 8 out of 10. It was a great ride, and if I have time, I may explore the series again. The only problem is that there are so many good shows, I don't think I'll ever get the time to revisit this series.
