Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together: 6 Celebrity Breakups More Devastating Than Hiddleswift

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston surprised a lot of fans of both when they decided to get together in the first place, so now that the two of them have announced they've gone their separate ways there isn't much left to surprise us. Maybe it was that it seemed weird from the start or maybe that it was that they just swamped us with too much Hiddleswift in the scant few months they were together, but this is one celebrity breakup that hasn't exactly devastated us. There have been celebrity breakups in the past, however, which broke our hearts and felt like family splitting up.

1. Britney Spears And Justin Timberlake: The Pop Power Couple Breakup

For fans of this pop duo, there was nothing more disheartening than finding out that these two broke up. The "first loves" seemed like the epitome of romance, with JT being her first kiss at 12 years old during their Mickey Mouse Club days. We did get Timberlake's wonderfully passive-aggressive tune of "Cry Me a River" out of it though, so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

2. Robert Pattinson And Kristen Stewart: The YA Franchise Breakup

Twi-hards were devastated when images emerged of Kristen Stewart kissing director Rupert Sanders, her Snow White and the Huntsman director. At the time, Kristen had become tired of the relationship, and the pressure that fans were putting on the two of them, stating that:

"It wasn't real anymore. And that was gross to me."

They both have found love in others since, however, and seem much more at peace for it. Plus, it appears as if Kristen is happier with women, anyway. So they both win.

3. Ryan Gosling And Rachel McAdams: The Life Imitates Art Breakup

The two costars met on the set of The Notebook and initially hated each other, with Ryan trying to get her kicked off set at one point. The hatred turned quickly into passion, much like their characters Noah and Allie in the movie, and they dated off and on until 2008, even winning "Best Kiss" at the MTV Movie Awards for their famous kiss in the rain in the movie.

That their real-life love imitated the characters their fans loved thrilled us...at least until they broke up and destroyed all our hopes in true love forever.

4. Joe Jonas And Demi Lovato: The Disney Darlings Breakup

Having met on the set of the Disney Channel movie Camp Rock, these two were Disney darlings, with their love quietly growing as they toured together. It was inevitable that they would end up together, but their split was devastating, and a little awkward, coming right before they had to go touring for Camp Rock 2. But they've moved on, her with her boyfriend of many years, Wilder Valderrama, and him with a recent MTV Video Music Award with his band, DNCE for Best New Artist.

The pair remains friendly, and even performed together as recently as this past July, as you can see in the video above.

5. Amber Heard And Johnny Depp: The Hollywood Scandal Breakup

The hardest thing about this breakup is the tarnishing of Johnny Depp's image and the realization that yes, even our greatest icons and celebrities we love can do horrible, horrible things. With allegations of domestic abuse (and a drunken violent streak later caught on video) and days after the announcement of the death of his mother, the timing of this split could not have been worse for Depp or created an uglier backlash for Heard, as many people grew nasty in their defense of Depp in their refusal to believe Heard was telling the truth.

6. Zac Efron And Vanessa Hudgens: The First High School Love Breakup

Another Disney pairing, these two seemed like the pair in high school that would make it work and get married. He even stood by her when the scandal of her nude pictures got dropped. However, for Vanessa the relationship became difficult, having to deal with his adoring fans day in and out, stating

"I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up. Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares. Then I realized that's not what that's about."

I honestly can't blame her, it can be difficult keeping jealousy in check, let alone when it comes to one of the hottest guys in Hollywood right now. Thankfully, she has found love with Austin Butler.

Love in general can be difficult, but it seems as though it is even more difficult when it comes to love in Hollywood. Here is hoping that these celebs can all find happiness in the future no matter if it is with someone or not.
