Marvel's upcoming Netflix series The Punisher is expected to follow Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) after his adventures in Daredevil Season 2, as he takes on the criminal underworld by himself with enemies on all sides. He'll have associates like Micro and Karen to rely on for support — but when it comes down to it, the Punisher can singlehandedly deal with bad guys of every kind. For proof, check out the new clip below:

As you can see, the Punisher isn't playing around. Despite being surrounded by several armed mercenaries, he disables them with ease, using a knife and the environment to his advantage. He doesn't even look phased, which just goes to show what kind of prowess he really has.

Jon Bernthal, Meet John Rambo

What's most interesting about this clip is how the Punisher is using tactics similar to John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) in First Blood. Castle's use of the forest to conceal his location was practically identical to Rambo's ambush methods.

In First Blood, Rambo is forced to hide as misguided police deputies hunt him. He utilized traps and his own military training to outsmart the well-armed authorities, just like Frank Castle in the clip above. For a better grasp on John Rambo's tactical repertoire, check out a clip from First Blood and see for yourself:

Frank Castle and John Rambo share more in common than just their approach to hostile situations. They're both soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), an element that was highly emphasized in the #Rambo movies, as well as in the second season of Daredevil.

Rambo had to deal with the shock of returning to civilian life after surviving the horrors of the Vietnam war — presumably including the deaths he witnessed and those he caused. Frank Castle is afflicted by similar issues, though his trauma stems from watching his own family get murdered right in front of him.

It remains to be seen whether The Punisher will include more nods to Rambo, but if this new clip is any indication, it's going to be the most intense Marvel/Netflix series yet.
