Joshua Dunlop is a Concept Artist, Creature Designer, and Illustrator whose realistic Pokémon images distinguish themselves beyond simple notebook fandom. His portfolio contains a treasure trove of seemingly real-life Pokémon that has to be seen to be believed.

Taking his passion one step further, Joshua has fired up a Patreon to create a 'Pokémon Zoology' Website.

I am in the process of creating the 'Pokemon Zoology' Website. I will create all the artwork and much of the written content you see on the site.

The visually stunning adaption of his work, candidly strips back the Pokémon away from the immense power we know they have inside. As the funds roll in, the site will only grow and grow with more Pokémon. As it stands, Joshua Dunlop is already well on his way.

Look At What He Has Already Made

It is easy to imagine their humble beginnings with his artwork. Seeing these Pokémon so innocent and pure in natural surroundings motivates the soul to share in this campaigns theme of protection and understanding.

It's a refreshing perspective to view Pokémon as a species out in the wild, free and unburdened by their grooming for battle. It allows the viewer to empathize with them similar to how a naturalist may observe the world.

His Masters in Concept Art for Game and Animation allows #JoshuaDunlop to employee a number of techniques that commensurate aesthetically with the final outcome of his work.

I aim to create realistic and visually powerful work and use blended elements of digital painting and photo manipulation to get work done quickly without compromising on its visual aesthetic.

The above time-lapse footage will take you through the various stages of his process. He really does bring Pokémon to life.
