Pixar Theory: Who Is Riley's Monster?

Is it who you're expecting?

Last year, I wrote an article on the SuperCarlinBrothers's theory that Randall from Monsters, Inc. is Andy's monster from Toy Story. You can click on the link for my article or watch this video if you're interested in that.

And this time, I'm gonna be doing another theory from the SuperCarlinBrothers, and this theory reveals who Riley Andersen's monster is from Inside Out. I will leave his video at the end of the article.

So, one of the guys at the SuperCarlinBrothers, Jonathan "J" Carlin, sat down with Pixar director Pete Docter. Docter is the director of both Monsters, Inc. and Inside Out. And this was his response when J asked him if Riley had a monster.

"Hmm...you know what? I've never thought of that. Um, probably she did when she was younger."

So, there isn't really a definite answer as to the IDENTITY of Riley's monster, but at the end of Monsters, Inc., the monsters go from scaring kids to making them laugh. Assuming that their timeline is parallel to our human timeline, that was in 2001.

Riley is 11 in 2015, so she was born in 2004. This means that the monster going through her door would be trying to make her laugh, not scream.

In Inside Out, Bing Bong says that animals were all the rage when Riley was three. So, we can assume that she'd be able to identify a bunch of animals. But when a monster came through her door, she wouldn't be able to really identify it.

But some monsters appear to look like a mixture of animals. Sulley looks like a mixture between a bear and a ram.

And Randall kind of looked like a mixture between a chameleon and a lizard.

And you may remember that there's a character in Inside Out who looks like a combination of monsters: Bing Bong.

Now, Bing Bong MIGHT be Riley's monster, but it's also possible that Riley made Bing Bong her imaginary friend and based at least one part of his body off of the monster that came through her door to make her laugh.

Bing Bong said that he is part elephant, part dolphin, and part cat, all while referencing every part of his body except his legs. The Disney-Pixar Facebook page also put up a picture of Bing Bong, pointing out every part of his body except his legs.

The legs are a strange addition to the rest of Bing Bong's cotton candy body, so she likely included that in her imaginary friend, Bing Bong, because of the monster that came through her closet that she couldn't identify. But who on the Laugh Floor could have legs like that?

2319!! WE HAVE A 2319!!!

I mean, just compare the two (PC to SuperCarlinBrothers):

This monster's name is George Sanderson, and I believe that he is likely Riley's monster. I mean, their body shape is very similar as well.

Both Bing Bong and George are large and round, their legs are virtually the same, and they both have things coming out of their head; it's just that with Bing Bong, it's a trunk, and with George, it's a horn.

Now, this theory is definitely a little bit more speculative than the Andy's monster theory with less evidence to back it up, but it's still a very likely possibility.

I'm gonna be busy this week, but soon, you'll be getting a trailer breakdown for Solo: A Star Wars Story, the mystery of Rey's parents revealed, and another article that I'll pull out from my drafts. So, stay tuned for that.
