Pokemon is a Huge Part of My Life

My childhood.

Pokemon has been around for almost 22 years now (Being released in Japan on February 27th, 1996) and it has been a huge part of my life since I was about 7, when I got my first Pokemon game (Pokemon Blue, October 10th 1998). At first, I struggled because I couldn't read (Since I had Global Developmental Delay or GDD for short) and got lost in places like Mount Moon. When I asked a good friend of mine for help he suggested I look at the guidebooks (Which was ironic since I couldn't read at the time). But I wanted to make progress in the game that much, that I forced myself to learn to read (Which at the time was a higher grade level than my grade, although I still struggled to read anything else though). I feel if it were not for Pokemon, my reading level would be lower than it is now. I remember watching the anime any chance I got, I would always wonder what great adventures Ash and the gang would get up to this time, I also remember going to Pokemon the first movie, being shocked when Ash turned to stone and in awe when all the Pokemon's tears brought him back to life. I also remember getting the free Mewtwo promo card (When I was eight years old that was awesome to get). It could also get me into trouble too...There was a time where a friend of mine (Let's just call him Jeff) and I were right into a Pokemon Battle (Third Generation, either Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald) and a mutual friend of ours said it was time to go to the Learning centre (All three of us had Specials needs). We ignored him so we could finish the battle (Which took us only a minute or so longer). We were like two minutes late and we got an earful from the Teachers Aide. I remember playing Pokemon on long car rides, one instance was when my aunt and I were going to Halifax for a back appointment for me (I have Scoliosis) and I was battling Whitney (who remembers that Which and her Cow). I was talking about that to my aunt for half the car ride. I also remember battling Jeff on long rides to the fair, I believe I always lost. It was because of Pokemon that I started my Youtube channel (Jazz Umbre). My first Let's Play was Pokemon Crystal Wedlocke. I remember the quality was crappy, I remember all the time it took, I remember all my Pokemon's deaths, but most of all I remember all the fun I had with it. I got back into collecting Pokemon cards recently too, I do card openings often. I made many Youtube friends through our mutual love of Pokemon (I remember the first time I met Nman64, he commented on my Pokemon FireRed let's play, we've been friends since). I enjoy many PokeTubers like Marriland, TheKingNappy, Herovoltsy, MandJTV Pokevids and many more. Pokemon has made many games over the years, some of my favorite games had come from the series, ( Such as Pokemon Colosseum/XD Gale of darkness, The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Series, Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver). I make it a tradition to get the main series Pokemon games when they come out, which means I am most likely going to get a Nintendo switch. Pokemon has been a huge part of my life; it is a part of who I am. I don't know where my life would be without it, I don't even want to know. Thank you, Pokemon for truly being there.
