Post X-Men Apocalypse. More Members of The Summers Family Could Appear in Next X-Men Film.

The Summers family tree explained.

The X-Men universe has just welcomed two new members to the Summers' family in X-Men: Apocalypse. Those members being that of Scott Summers (Tye Sheridan) and a brief cameo of Nathan Grey a.k.a. X-Man. Along with X-Men: Apocalypse introducing more members of the Summers family, there's also the matter of Deadpool 2 featuring Cable a.k.a. Nathan Summers, future son of Scott Summers. Then there's the unconfirmed roles of Phillip Summers (Ryan Hollyman) and Deborah Summers (Joanne Boland) in X-Men: Apocalypse, their roles are never confirmed but their appearances and association with Scott and Alex Summers in the film convincingly places them in the role Scott and Alex's grandparents.

Future Summers' to appear in X-Men films.

Seeing as how many members of the Summers family have just been integrated into the cinematic X-Men universe, there's plenty of potential for more members of the Summers family to have a place in the X-Men universe as well. It's all possible now that Nathan Grey a.k.a. X-Man has just made his first cameo appearance. The extent of Nathan Grey in the X-Men universe connects many more notable individuals which could reasonably appear in any number of future X-Men films. Apart from Nathan Grey's possible appearance in a future X-Men film, there's also the suggestive theory of Christopher Summers a.k.a. Corsair coming into the picture as well. In the scenario that the X-Men travel into space, they may run into Corsair, wherein Scott and Christopher Summers would be reunited; sadly after the death of Alex Summers, and the presumed to be dead Katherine Summers.

Here's an info-graphic of the Summers family tree as it stands in the Marvel Comics universe. Not every one within the family tree are direct descendants, seeing is how most of the children born from Scott Summers and Jean Grey were clones or made from the DNA of Scott and Jean. But everyone within the tree is related, and most have great potential to appear in future X-Men films. We'll start from the top and work our way down. The farther down the genealogy tree we go, the more complex the characters are.

We've already spoken briefly of Phillip and Deborah Summers, parents to Christopher Summers a.k.a. Corsair. Their presence in the Marvel universe is minimal at best. They don't have any pivotal moments in their comic-book history, and are only mentioned in name during most accounts of their presence. But right below them, we see the first integral member of the Summers family, Christopher Summers.

Christopher Summers a.k.a. Corsair

1. Christopher Summers a.k.a. Corsair was first seen in Marvel Comics as he and his wife, Katherine Anne Summers were on a return trip from a vacation with their sons, Alex and Scott Summers. During that trip, an unidentified aircraft shoots down their plane. Before they crash, Christopher and Katherine Summers manage to eject Alex and Scott safely. It appeared as if they were going to die in the crash, but they were unexpectedly captured by a Shi'Ar vessel. Christopher and Katherine Summers were saved, but it wouldn't long before the death of Katherine Summers. After the death of his wife, Christopher Summers winds up as intergalactic prisoner sold into slavery. Soon after, Christopher Summers escapes his bonds and takes a Starjammer ship in his escape. He then undertook the moniker of Corsair as he piloted the galaxy as a space pirate. Eventually he found himself in the face of his son, Scott Summers. Having to explain the death of Scott's mother, and Scott doing the same in regards to Alex. There's much death that follows the Summers family, but it isn't always so.

Alongside of Christopher Summers, we have Katherine Anne Summers. She doesn't play any major role in the Marvel universe, other than giving birth to Scott and Alex Summers. As well as giving her life to save her unborn child, Gabriel Summers, whom she'd never get a chance to meet. Gabriel Summers is a very powerful mutant in the X-Men universe, and he's the unacknowledged brother to Alex and Scott Summers.

Gabriel Summers a.k.a. Vulcan

2. Gabriel Summers was born into the universe by accident. Katherine Anne Summers was pregnant with Gabriel when she was murdered by Emperor D'Ken of Shi'Ar. D'Ken pulled the living fetus from Katherine, killing her in the process. That would have killed Gabriel in the process but D'Ken had other plans for the unborn child. Gabriel Summers was placed in a growth chamber where aging was accelerated. After being subjected to the rapid growth, Gabriel began to manifest his mutant abilities. From psionic abilities to the ability to manipulate all forms of energies. That in itself made Gabriel Summers a formidable mutant in the X-Men universe. After growing to the matured age intended by D'Ken, Gabriel Summers a.k.a. Vulcan was shipped to Earth to work for Davan Shakari a.k.a. Eric the Red. But shortly after reaching Earth, Gabriel escaped from the Shi'Ar controlled space. It was there that Moira McTaggert found him and recruited him to her team of mutants. Shortly after, Moira introduced Gabriel Summers to the X-Men, wherein Charles Xavier sensed that Gabriel was related to Scott Summers through his telepathy. Gabriel didn't have time to bond with Scott or become a part of the X-Men as he sacrificed himself to destroy Krakoa. After his apparent death, Gabriel Summers/Vulcan returned from the dead, angered and frustrated. He later went on a rampage, and went back to the Shi'Ar Empire for revenge against Magistrix D'Ken. It was there that he became Emperor Vulcan for a short time, as well as taking upon the Phoenix Force.

We know of who Scott and Alexander Summers are, as they were fully introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse. And Ahmet Abdol doesn't play a pivotal role in the Marvel universe. The next member down the Summers family tree whom has potential in the cinematic X-Men universe is that of Nathaniel Summers.

Nathaniel Summers a.k.a. Cable

3. Nathaniel Summers is the son of Jean Grey and Scott Summers, but not the Jean Grey we know of. The Jean Grey who births Nathaniel Summers a.k.a. Cable is actually Madelyne Pryor. Madelyne Pryor is the genetic clone of Jean Grey created by Mister Sinister, after the original Jean Grey died during her time as the Phoenix. Mister Sinister has had a hand in manufacturing multiple clones, including another member of the Summers family, Nathan Grey. In regards to Nathaniel Summers/ Cable, he's going to be introduced to the X-Men cinematic universe as his time-traveling counterpart. It'll be some time before we see Cable, but his presence will be greatly felt when he first appears.

In Marvel Comics, Nathaniel Essex a.k.a. Mister Sinister goes very far to duplicate the X-gene found in Scott Summers and Jean Grey. He found that their combination of mutant abilities made the most powerful mutants. Which was why Mister Sinister invested so much time in his research to create clones and genetic descendants of Scott Summers and Jean Grey. As Madeline Pryor was a clone of Jean Grey made by Mister Sinister, Nathan Grey was also manufactured by Mister Sinister.

Nathan Grey a.k.a. X-Man

4. Nathan Grey a.k.a. X-Man got his start in the X-Men universe as he was created by Mister Sinister. Mister Sinister obtained the genetic material of Jean Grey and Scott Summers, which he then used to create Nathan Grey in a test tube. In an unexplained sequence of events, Nathan Grey's birth out of a test tube came with it some unforeseen repercussions. After his birth, Nathan grew to an adolescent age very quickly. It seemed almost like a transformation. Nathan was rescued from Mister Sinister by his brother, Scott Summers. At the time, Nathan and Scott didn't know of the lineage they share but they soon found common ground without knowledge of that connection between the two of them. After being freed from Mister Sinister's compound, Nathan went on to become a student of the X-Men, under the tutelage of Forge and mutants alike. Nathan took on the moniker of X-Man during his missions with the X-Men.

Those are the most notable members of the Summers family who may or may not receive an on-screen adaptation in future X-Men films. Their comic-book history has plenty of source material for which a believable story can be established in a cinematic portrayal. As well as Nathaniel Summers a.k.a. Cable confirmed to have a role in Deadpool 2, there must be more for the Summers family in the cinematic X-Men universe. And the introduction of Scott Summers (Tye Sheridan) in X-Men: Apocalypse all but confirms the intent to used the Summers family as a jumping off point for many other characters of the X-Men universe to appear alongside the X-Men. To add more evidence to back up that theory, we also had the introduction of Nathan Grey a.k.a. X-Man in X-Men: Apocalypse. That's enough members of the Summers family to indicate their future lineage of offspring undoubtedly having a place in future X-Men films.
