Umberto Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood, is reporting new Ranger character details, as well as two original characters that will be used in the film.

Potential Spoilers for the upcoming Power Rangers movie may follow:

Gonzalez reports that Rita Repulsa and Zordon are in fact returning for the movie.

Here is how Gonzalez's sources describe Rita:

“A huntress. A striking, yet subtly alien-looking woman. She carries a metallic staff topped with a distinctive crescent shape. Advances with a soldier’s confidence, guided by some sort of compass… Her staff is actually a device of immense power. She points it at the ground. Heads emerge, built layer upon layer like 3-D printing, made from the earth itself… The staff’s technology grants her the ability to create humanoid figures, soulless and robotic.”

It seems we are getting a nice re-imagining from the classic Rita. Hopefully this is for the best. We were promised a more mature Power Rangers, but one that will still be playful.

That seems to be the case in the description we are receiving. Rita's staff will still keep it's look from the show, but it becomes a much better story whenever her staff is the one making monsters; instead of a weird white elf making them out of clay, and placing them in an odd sounding machine.

We will also be seeing a MUCH different Zordon then we are used too:

“Though alien, he looks like a man in his 50s. Sinewy and strong, as if carved from some root that refused to die. A being of integrity and iron will.”

Gonzalez also said, that the opening moments of the new Power Rangers movie, will feature Rita fighting the Power Rangers during the time when dinosaurs walked the Earth.

And the Red Ranger of that team will in-fact be...Zordon! This fight will more than likely be prior to Rita trapping Zordon in the time warp that we are accustomed to seeing him in.

Gonzalez did not give any information on who the other Rangers would be, or if their identities are significant to the film or Power Rangers lore.

If these reports are true, then we will in fact be seeing the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers on the big screen, and it also looks like director Dean Isrealite will be giving us a back story to the suits and Zords, seeing as how the opening scene takes place in the time of Dinosaurs.

We will get a full backstory on why the suits and Zords are modeled after pre-historic creatures, which is something more casual movie goers will be interested in knowing.

Can't you hear that classic theme music now?

Gonzalez also reports, that the new film is looking to cast unknown actors in their late teens to early twenties, for the roles of the Rangers.

This is news seems on point with how Power Ranger shows tend to cast their Rangers. Hopefully though, Isrealite and company will find better talent to spear head this new team, than what we are used to seeing on TV.

Lionsgate seems to be keen on giving this film a more young adult feel. While mature and action packed, it will still appeal to a young generation, as well as the generation that grew up watching the original Rangers.
