According to IGN, a sequel to the yet to be released Power Rangers film has been confirmed to coincide with the upcoming #graphicnovel, which will pick up immediately after the events of the first film.

Power Rangers: Aftershock Graphic Novel

The report doesn't reveal any specific details on the graphic novel or how it continues the story established in Power Rangers but it does indicate that information on the cinematic sequel will be included in the graphic novel when it is released.

The graphic novel is titled "Aftershock" and is expected to debut on March 29, 2017, five days after Power Rangers premieres.

We may not know what the graphic novel will entail but we can assume that Power Rangers will conclude on a cliffhanger that leads into the sequel. While the graphic novel will add context to the final act of the film, the graphic novel will probably also set up the next major story arc to take place in the sequel.

Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks

As for information already revealed of the companion graphic novel, only the title "Aftershock" was revealed so we can't make too many solid predictions on base speculation. Our best guess towards what the connotation of "Aftershock" likely alludes to, has to do with the aftermath of Angel Grove coming under fire from #RitaRepulsa and the Rangers responding to the threat.

It's likely that no one in the town has seen anything like Rita Repulsa, Goldar, or the Power Rangers before so there's definitely going to be an investigation of their battle waged within Angel Grove.

However, when we look at the original "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" program for insight on where the story might go next, the next logical direction for the Power Rangers story to go in to would be to either introduce the evil Green Ranger or #LordZedd.

Lord Zedd

Will The Graphic Novel Introduce An Evil Green Ranger Or Lord Zed?

After Rita Repulsa became less of a threat to the Power Rangers, Lord Zedd and the evil Green were the next big threats the Rangers faced. The evil #GreenRanger was created by Rita Repulsa when her monsters proved to be ineffective, she manipulated the Green Ranger into attacking the rest of the Power Rangers and used him as one of her most worthy generals on several occasions. Luckily the Green Ranger was freed from Rita Repulsa's control and joined the other Power Rangers in their fight against Rita Repulsa. However, once Rita lost her control over the Green Ranger, another more intimidating antagonist entered the picture, Lord Zedd.

Lord Zedd was introduced as an even more diabolical villain than Rita Repulsa (and that's saying something). Within his first few notable appearances on "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers", Lord Zedd was able to destroy the Rangers' Zords - leaving them lying in defeat. The Rangers had never come across a villain so overpowering and destructive in capability before Lord Zedd which called for the team to step up their game to defeat him. With in mind, it's quite possible Lord Zedd and the evil Green Ranger be introduced in the follow-up graphic novel as new antagonists for the sequel to Power Rangers.

Since Power Rangers will likely conclude with Rita Repulsa's defeat, there'll be an open vacancy for a worthy villain and the two most plausible candidates for that role are the evil Green Ranger or Lord Zedd.

Evil Green Range

Other than the title, information on the upcoming graphic novel was also minimal. Though, the simple confirmation of the graphic novel does reveal that the upcoming Power Rangers film will be followed up with a cinematic sequel in the near future.

That said, it'll be the accompanying graphic novel which provides us with the most details on the newly revealed sequel to Power Rangers (2017) when its released; keeping in mind that the accompanying graphic novel won't be released until after the initial film premieres so anything integral in the graphic novel will probably be teased in a post-credits sequence.

Synopsis: From the publisher of the critically acclaimed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic series comes an original story set in the universe of the upcoming Power Rangers feature film. This explosive, all-new tale picks up immediately after the events of Lionsgate’s highly anticipated movie, in theaters March 24, 2017.

Another confirmation came today in the form a toy advertisement which has now revealed Goldar's golden appearance in the film. The #Goldar toy can be seen fighting the Ranger's #Megazord.

The video gives us a good idea of what Goldar will look like, as well as the size his character will be. Goldar appears to share quite a few similarities with his counterpart from the "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" television program so he'll likely fill a similar role in the film, as Rita Repulsa's main henchmen.

In "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers", the Putty Patrollers were the groups of henchmen created by Rita Repulsa and were constantly causing havoc in Angel Grove. And from the looks of the #PuttyPatroller toys in the promotional video, they'll play a similar role in the upcoming film.

Going back to the video; when looking at the scale Goldar is built upon, he appears to stand alongside skyscrapers and electrical towers, which means Goldar will be the over-sized monster the Rangers take on when they assemble their #Zords.

If you're not familiar with Zords, they are giant mechanical beasts that the Rangers call upon to fight overgrown monsters. The Power Rangers use the Zords to battle overgrown monsters they can't simply take on in their suits. And sometimes the Zords aren't enough on their own, so they combine to become a #Megazord.

So accounting for Goldar being depicted on the same scale as the Zords, it's obvious that Goldar will be the main cause for the Rangers to assemble their Zords into the Megazord; a fact made evident by fantasy play sequence taking place between Goldar and the Megazord in the promotional ad for the toys.
