If you're like me you've found yourself sitting in your theater's seat cringing halfway through your movie. It's not because you don't love the franchise, it's not because you aren't having some enjoyment with what you are watching. Instead there's that feeling of disappointment because your movie didn't live up to your expectations.

If you're like me, it's happened rather recently thanks to movies such as Saban's Power Rangers or even Transformers: The Last Knight, which served up a cringe-worthy experience. While some of you may enjoy the films, there's no doubt that some of them have left us yearning for more. So lets take a look at five fan films that did it better than Hollywood did.

If you've seen the recent Saban's Power Rangers you already know it's decent. It's a movie that gave us a darker, grittier, and more human feel to characters we knew from before. We learned that Trinny served up a generous nod to the LBGTQ community. Billy is an autistic who is coping with the loss of his father. Zack's coping with his mother whom is weakening in her ailing state. Kimberly is one that struggles with past events of her high school life, and Jason is at blame for an accident that happened that injured others.

While the new cast served up a delicious bit of entertainment, it was a movie that stared us down with a blank look on its face, and failed to capture the more adult-like entertainment many of us hoped for. The one thing that did it right? This fan-film, which displays the turmoils of a long-lasting war against Rita Repulsa and the future she caused as the Power Rangers failed.

While many fans that go to cosplay events know "Harley's Joker" there's no doubt that we've all been rolling our eyes at Jared Leto's portrayal of the villain. He's one that left us reeling in pain during Suicide Squad. While Harley's Joker doesn't give us the Mark Hamill style Joker laugh we had hoped for. It's still a solid portrayal of Arkham's most deadly semi-permanent resident.

This short would have been better with Gotham's Cameron Monaghan as The Joker.

When James Wong undertook the process of making Dragon Ball: Evolution into a movie, there's no doubt he had a lot of love for the series, and wanted to do it just right. While the movie captured much of what we love about the franchise, it missed the point, and it missed that point of enthusiasm rather harshly.

However, it's failure to captivate fans did something amazing. It allowed for production teams such as RobotUnderDog (You can visit their official Facebook Page for more info about them) to create this amazing series called Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope, which is directly themed around the Cell Saga. You can also check out the inevitable live-action remake casting here on Creators to see what another movie casting for Dragon Ball Z would look like.

If you've already checked out my colleague Alexander Abbey's previous article 'The Best The 12 Best Superhero (And More) Fan Films On The Internet', you already know Spawn: The Recall is absolutely fascinating, and probably one of the most WELL done Spawn themed fan-films. While Todd McFarlane has announced that the Spawn Reboot is done, we're still waiting to see when this hard R rated reboot of Spawn will hit the silver screens.

It's a short that's completely dark, brooding, and puts fans in the need for a film with a heavy R rating from the ratings boards. The short takes place when a former witch and her son go shopping. They try to stave off a situation that would lead them back to the darkness. It's now up to her to help Spawn as Lucifer is back and ready to bring Hell to Earth. What makes this one so perfect? It captures Spawn at his purest and most deceitful as ever. Plus, that cape. Who doesn't love the cape?
