OoOoO

I kept seeing clips of this on Facebook, and it seemed funny, so I checked it out and dear god I'm glad I did.

The story follows a brilliant highschool boy who is perfect. Everything he does is perfectly in sync with everyone around, and even the people who dislike him have to begrudgingly accept how cool he is. He's handsome, intelligent, and knows exactly what to do in any given situation. He is...SAKAMOTO!

It's a fairly small series, but it hits every note perfectly. The intro is in the running for the best goddamn song used in an anime intro (this may be my bias, considering how similar it sounds to the Offspring.)

Along for the ride are Yoshinobu Kubota, an annoyingly adorable young man who has to try to be friends with Sakamoto while keeping him away from his love-sick mother. Atsushi Maeda, a school bully who is awe struck by just how cool the model student is. Yūya Sera, a fashion model in his own eyes, but not so much in anyone else's. And Aina Kuronuma, a girl that's popular with the boys, but is head over heels for the ever ignorant Sakamoto.

I did have one slight issue with a weird scene transition near the end of the series. It leads you on to believing something is actually happening, then reveals that it's all in someone's imagination with little to no indicator otherwise.

There's also the use of typical "white person" stereotypes, such as the big noses and American flag clothing. But at the same time, it's forgiven simply because all the stereotypes were in the mind of an unknowing teenager, and in the end they didn't actually implement the stereotypes on actual Americans shown in the show. The music and animation were all perfectly crafted for this awesome series.

Seriously, I can't say enough good things about the show. And I can't say much without spoiling it either. So if you have a free day, definitely watch this show and enjoy the awesome exploits of the amazing Sakamoto.

OoOoO

TLDR: It's awesome, like, really awesome. Watch it. Awesome intro (I don't like many anime intros, so this is a big compliment), awesome characters, and an easy time watching a short slice of life series.

OoOoO

SPOILER TALK BELOW!!! IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO HAVE ANYTHING SPOILED, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER!!!

Best Girl: Megumi Fujita. Shy girls always get me.

So, throughout the show, it's been known that Sakamoto wants to work for NASA. The scene transition I was referring to above was when the class was imagining what it would be like for him at NASA, and it introduces a scenario just like the one in the very beginning. Three bullies, pranks not working, etc.

Those USA stereotypes come into play in this imaginative scenarios, so it's easy to overlook them. But the first scenario comes out of nowhere, so at first, you don't realize it's just imagination. Then after it's over, you go "Ooooooooh." So that's the situation I was referring to. Other than that, no complaints. This is probably one of the best anime I've seen in years.
