During a interview with TheWrap's Jeff Sneider. Sneider has recently revealed via a source, that Spider-Man is not going to be White in the Marvel cinematic Universe.
"This is not set in stone, guys, but I’m telling you right now: Spider-Man’s not going to be white. Spider-Man is not going to be white. I’m 95% sure. Spider-Man’s going to be most likely black. But there’s a chance he could also be latino. 95% sure: not white. I don’t think it’s going to be Peter Parker."
Take it for what you will. But if this is any indication of what Marvel's new plan is then it looks like the fans clamoring for Miles Morales (half Black and Hispanic) in the MCU could come true.
We have seen two incarnations of Peter Parker on the big screen, maybe it is time for a change?
Some massive Spider-man fans will probably say to themselfes "Well Peter Parker needs to be the first Spider-Man in MCU. You would not start Captain America with Bucky Barnes."
That is a good point, but at the same time, where most comic book characters are White, and you have a character that has been explored in cinema for almost a decade now. Maybe it is time to let another Spider-Man take over.
Maybe in the MCU Peter Parker did not exist, or he existed before The Avengers.
This also has many people wondering if Donald Glover could be on his way to becoming Spider-Man. While I know he has the acting chops for it. Miles Morales is even younger than Peter Parker, and Glover is 31 years old. Unless Marvel/Sony take some liberties with Miles Morales, I doubt Glover will be cast.
Take this information with a grain of salt. But still keep an open mind. Just because it is not Peter Parker does not mean it is a failure. Marvel/Sony would not just do this at the risk that it could ruin the MCU. Marvel has not let us down yet, I do not expect them to now. Plus, you can say what you want, but diversity is never a bad thing.
