Russos Assemble: The Russo Brothers Finally Get Their 'Infinity War' Cameo!

While Tony Stark polishes his Iron Man suit and the Guardians of the Galaxy search space for Thanos, the entire #MCU is tooling up as the #RussoBrothers prepare to bring Earth's Mightiest Heroes to our screens in Avengers: Infinity War. With the film becoming a who's who of #superheroes and villains, if you aren't one of #Marvel's actors in Infinity War, you should probably asking why.

With a cast list that is bursting at the seams, Anthony and Joe Russo have taken a leaf out of #StanLee's book with their own cameo (of sorts).

Slice to meet you.

While it is highly unlikely that the directing duo will actually put their live-action faces into Infinity War, we could at least see them popping up as a welcome Easter Egg for eagle-eyed fans. Taking to Instagram, the brothers shared an image of a pizza box sporting their faces alongside the caption "Quitting Infinity War. Announcing locations soon."

Maybe they are quitting directing to become full time actors and join the Avengers? Maybe the Russo-covered pizza box is a pepperoni/Pepper-Tony way to confirm that Gwyneth Paltrow will definitely return for the upcoming space saga, or, maybe, just maybe, it means nothing and they were hungry for pizza.

A Pizza The Action

Remember when we saw Tony Stark and Nick Fury meet at the donut shop? At least we know the #Avengers aren't exactly worried about their diets, while Marvelous Pizza sounds like somewhere you would want to hang out, especially if the Russos are the proprietors. Can you imagine Star-Lord and co. stopping off at some outer space restaurant to come across the Russos serving slices of their pizza from a box with their own faces on?

Pizza box directors have become something of an in-joke for Marvel characters, as you may remember that #KevinFeige was teased during Deadpool. Although the film was developed by #Fox, the pizza delivery driver we meet at the beginning worked for Feige's Famous Pizza. So, the Russos may have got ahead of the pack and made the joke before someone else did.

As for actual cameos in their ultimate team-up film, the Russos stated in late 2016:

“We’re literally in that phase of the pre-production where we start thinking about those kinds of things, and right now we’re looking for the right part to see who’s a match for the next cameo.”

If you look at Stan Lee, the #comicbook maestro has perfected the background cameo, while his Infinity War visit is tipped to be one of his best yet. Elsewhere, we already know that the brothers will continue their long-running joke of Community actors cameoing in their superverse, but isn't about time the directors got their time to shine too? Look at Tarantino, you can barely move without bumping into him cameoing in one of his films.

You can't blame the Russos for wanting a "slice" of the action. For now though, we will have to stick with scraping molten mozzarella off their faces on a box rather than actually seeing them on our screens. Expect to find out exactly who will be cameoing in Part 1 of Avengers: Infinity War when it is released on May 4, 2018.
