It's always a terrible occasion when we read articles about a child's possible last wish, but when it's attached to an A-lister going above and beyond to bring a smile to that child's face - it's truly heartwarming. That is this story.

Daniel Downing's mom thought that he simply needed glasses when she brought him in for a checkup. To her horror, her son was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. For a person of any age this would be completely heartbreaking, but for a 5 year old boy it makes it even harder to bear.

To soften the blow of the diagnosis, the Downing family has been campaigning to have Ryan Reynolds call Daniel to fulfill his possible dying wish as Deadpool was his favorite Marvel character, and Reynolds did his best to hero-up and arranged time while filming Deadpool 2 to call Daniel.

After realizing who was on the phone, Daniel immediately asked if Reynolds could facetime him, to which the Hollywood star agreed and the pair spent 15 minutes talking about their love for comic books and Deadpool. After their conversation slowed, Reynolds took Daniel on a tour of the set.

Yeah I am outside, you know what I doing right now? I'm filming Deadpool 2. I'm about to walk into the set and shoot Deadpool 2. Do you want to walk me? I'll take you onto the set for a second. It's going to be good, it's going to be a little dark in here, OK?

Although Reynolds had to dash off to film a scene, but not before getting the camera crew to wave hello and tell Daniel that he was glad to talk to him. The family was so ecstatic over Reynolds response that they made sure to let him know how eternally grateful they all were.

Daniel is currently undergoing treatment that his family never would have been able to pay for had a family friend, Biffy Lynch, not set up a JustGiving page to cover the transportation and housing costs for the 200 mile trek from Plymouth to Bristol. Currently the JustGiving fund has topped 15,000 euros.

With Deadpool 2 firmly in production, it was a wonderful surprise to hear that Ryan Reynolds took the time out of his day to bring a smile to a young boy.
