Scooby & Friends – The 'Friends' Cast Matched Up With Their Perfect 'Scooby Doo' Counterparts

Introducing the all new Scooby Doo mov- Wait, no. That is not why I’m here. I’m here to show you what the cast of Friends would be like if they were Scooby Doo characters. There’s six Scooby Doo characters and six Friends characters, bit of a coincidence, don’t you think? I’m going to briefly go through each character from Scooby Doo and give them a Friends character. You may also see the similarities in them all.

1 – Fred Jones & Ross Geller

In Scooby Doo we always see that Fred Jones is the gang leader. The dashing Fred Jones that everyone loves. Fred always has a plan up his sleeve when it comes to solving another mystery. Fred always knows what he is doing, well most of the time, but we all make mistakes. Fred tends to be the smartest guy from the group.

If you compare this to Ross from Friends, you will see that they are exactly the same. Ross always knows what he doing and is the smartest of the six of them. Quick and smart with exciting ideas, unless it's science and dinosaurs. I see Ross Geller as the group leader. Ross always makes the group decisions where it is necessary. If Ross is ever wrong, he is too scared to admit it, just like Fred. When a super plan of his goes wrong, he won’t take the blame for it, but eventually they both admit it. Overall they are both two smart and crazy guys.

2 – Daphne Blake & Rachel Green

The beloved Daphne always sticks by Fred’s side no matter what. Daphne is quite a smart person when it comes to a topic/subject that she actually has knowledge about. Whenever one of Fred’s marvellous plans come into action, Daphne is always quick to jump on board. We also see a love relationship between Fred and Daphne, the perfect couple, don’t you think?

This is where Rachel Green comes into play! Let’s put "we were on a break" to one side. This isn’t included here. But just like Fred and Daphne, Ross and Rachel have always been created to be a couple. Rachel knows exactly what she is talking about when it comes to her job, and a quick last minute shopping trip. Rachel eventually agrees to Ross' plans when he creates one, for example, leaving their baby daughter Emma with someone else for the first time. Ross and Rachel have a baby together, will Fred and Daphne have one in the future? Or will they stick as just a happy couple?

3 – Velma Dinkley & Monica Geller

The smartest of the females from the Scooby Doo gang, Velma is always doing her research and always on top of knowledge. Velma can be quite pushy when it comes to solving the mysteries, and she always likes to be that one person who unmasks the monster/ghost. She loves to be top of the leader board if you were to grade each member of the gang. I have to say, it would be a close battle between Fred and Velma — both know their stuff.

If you put Monica Geller in Velma’s shoes, and vice versa, you’ll see that there really isn’t much of a difference. Monica knows what is right and wrong most of the time. Monica loves to be tidy and have everything in the right place and everything cleaned up. Monica is of course like Velma. She has to have her word heard above everybody else in the gang. Monica knows her stuff due to being part of a rather intelligent family. With Ross being her older brother, she wants to be just like him., which is what being exactly the same with Velma and Fred. They are the leaders of the gang itself.

4 – Norville "Shaggy" Rogers & Chandler Bing

Quick with the jokes is always Shaggy! Especially when it’s not the appropriate time. But him and Scooby always find them amusing. Cowardly slacker, Shaggy is the owner of the well-known Scooby Doo. Shaggy is the one that is always scared of everything and never wants to solve a mystery. He’d rather go off and eat or hide somewhere. But Shaggy can be a smart guy from time to time. Shaggy is occasionally good with girls when it comes to talking to them, take "Alien Invaders" as an example; he gets a girlfriend and becomes attracted to her. That’s an achievement for Shaggy!

You may notice that Chandler Bing is the real life Shaggy from Scooby Doo. As you (probably) know, Chandler is always quick and sharp with the jokes. Most of the time they are either not funny, irrelevant or just inappropriate. But him and Joey are the ones that will always find them funny. Which brings me on to my next comparison…

5 – Scooby Doo & Joey Tribbiani

Always eating, but the fast moving Great Dane is the one and only Scooby Doo! Scooby doesn't care for the action and adventure that is surrounding him, he’s either concentrating on Shaggy and seeing what humour he can come up with, or just eating whatever he can find. Usually the entire menu. Scooby never leaves Shaggy’s side unless he really has to.

Joey Tribbiani is the only person that is exactly like Scooby Doo. Joey just loves to eat. especially sandwiches. Joey gets grouchy if someone goes to eat his food, a bit like Scooby. which is why they both tend to eat rather fast. As previously stated, Shaggy and Scooby never tend to leave each other’s side, just like Chandler and Joey. They were roommates for quite some time, but even when one of the other had a problem, they always went to the other person.

Scooby and Shaggy got a lot of films with just the two of them being the main stars, leaving the other members of the gang behind. I’m quite surprised they never gave Joey and Chandler their own spin-off show. Okay a few members of the Friends cast appeared in Matt LeBlanc’s show Episodes. But does that really count? You decide!

6 – Scrappy Doo & Phoebe Buffay

I had to save the best one until last! These two are just exactly the same and just as crazy as each other. Scrappy Doo is a puppy and isn't afraid of anything or afraid to do anything, he just gets on with it. Scrappy spends a lot of time with Scooby, who spends a lot of time with Shaggy, this creates a little group. Scrappy is a fighter! If he feels the need to try and attack, he’ll just do it. Scrappy is quite dopey in places as well, but smart a lot of the time, he just doesn't look it.

If you look at Phoebe, she is the exact same., except that she is a human. Phoebe is crazy and doesn't understand things most of the time, only understanding things that suit her areas of knowledge. Phoebe lived on the streets when she was a child, so she had to learn not to be afraid of anything at all times. When Phoebe feels the need to attack, she will! Just not always in the smartest of ways. Joey, Chandler and Phoebe all get along really well together, just like Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy. In both universes, they have created their own awesome gangs!

Do you see what I mean? All the Friends cast need now is, a Mystery Machine and become the new ghost hunters of New York City! Well Phoebe did want ideas for the old van that she had… Why didn't she turn it into a Mystery Machine?
